Hawaii Knife Life - daily use for work and play

Thank you ! I love raw food, meat, sushi for that matter. I do cook octopus few different ways and know how to get rid of the slime, pretty much the same as you do when processing snails… I don’t mind the row eggs too, love them.
I can find octopus around ( West coast of FL just South of TPA) but not sure if I can get a fresh one, I know few Asian food stores where I buy sushi ingredients but not sure if they will carry fresh octopod :) Will figure it out, thanks for the pointers !

Used this older Delica to open boxes. It's very good in this role, and most of you all know.

Little fishing on the weekend. Big bro is teaching little bro the ropes.

I love this Buck 112 FG in ebony wood. It has such a comfortable handle, and nimble blade. One of my favorite work and hunting knives of all time.

I have been trying to tune up these old axe heads. A week long soak in white vinegar, and some sanding with 300 grit paper is got me to this point.

Love everything about that last post.
Family, fishing, great blades, old axes, you could have gone full 5X parlay if the old Bronco would have made an appearance!
Thanks! I still have the old girl, but she needs some love. The third member in the 9 inch needs replaced, it needs new intake valves, and t he brakes could use some upgrading. Not to mention the rust lol. Not enough time in the day!
Good to see some additions to this thread!! Was missing it more than I thought!!!
Nice husky too! Best saw out there! How's the little deer doing? Growing fast I suppose!!!
Have a safe n happy turkey out in paradise!!!!
Thank you sir! And you as well!

The deer is still hanging on, although she must have gotten into something. She lost a bunch of weight, and was having trouble going #2. I am pretty sure it is caused by the dog/cat food she keeps getting into. We removed access to that, and she seems like she is bouncing back a bit.

Been a while. Time to update this thread.

Took a drive to the rainforest to test out my lift kit on my trail rig.

This Condor is a lot of fun for a little money.

This E4 in K390 is a demon. Not a lot this EDC can't handle.

The trail can get pretty tight.

Deep right pocket companion for whittling.

Glad to see you back Molokai, I was starting to get worried.

How do you like the Condor, as compared to Mora's like the Companion, etc? Any tangible difference?
Thanks friend.

Nothing tangible... more like subtle things. I like the full sweeping belly, the funky blade finish, and the exposed, full tang. The Garberg is close, but I don't enjoy using it as much for some strange reason.

The 30ish dollar price tag is pretty sweet too.

Sounds like what I expected. I wish it wasn't given such a Stark scandi grind, but for the price it's probably worth getting to try a re-grind. The Garberg never appealed to me and I'm glad my suspicions were confirmed in real world use.

How's your summer been? Would you be willing to share any of your favorite Hawaiian cuisine of the season?

Yeah, the Garberg has a really small scandi-grind, even less than the Garberg. It's a wedge style cutter.

Have not been hunting as much as I like, but still enjoying deer meat pretty often. I started shoreline whipping more often.

We are currently making Inamona (Roasted and chopped Kukui nut mixed with dry chili) and also harvesting a lot of Ulu (breadfruit).

Awesome photos. Thanks for sharing. A lot of people harvest fiddleheads when they start appearing. Supposedly tasty. I have not eaten any so can't confirm this.
Trail rug looks very capable
