I just saw this and liked it, especially due to my bad close-up vision.

Do a search for "Victorinox Swiss Army Active Recon (Compass) Series Watch # 25593 (Men' s Watch)".

Thanks! Unfortunately, every one I checked is out of stock.

I'm liking that bowie

I like it too. Sharp as h*ll...the elk grip just happens to fit my hand like a glove. Paid 35$ for it about 10 years ago. A retired railroad man was making them as a time-filler hobby, he had about 2 dozen at a little table in a outdoor weekend flea market thingie in Kentucky. I wish I had bought a few more, heck his smaller blades were only like 20$.

LOL it's kind of funny, the ''bowie'' is a couple inches longer then the 'hawk and a lot heavier.

Got to love Jeff's bigger knives :D

How does that baby chop?

I'm thinking it will do pretty good. I haven't been able to use it too much yet, but from playing around in the yard it seems like it will do some nice handy work. I worked on the edge a bit so I may have to fine tune that. It's 1095, I've gotten it really sharp, may have to work on the profile a bit more though.

Figured I'd stop lurking and post. Heres my combo. A Cold Steel Riflemans Hawk and an old butcher knife from an unknown maker. Forced a patina on both and I'm working on a carry system.

That looks like it may be an Old Hickory butcher-knife Joe. If so is good blade, I've seen them used as a main woods knife with good results. My dad has an ancient Old Hickory thta is razor sharp...no telling how many feet of meat it's sliced through.

Here's a combo that I used a lot last summer. The hawk is an ATC prototype and the knife is by JK, a maker here on BF.

That what I thought when I first found it. There are a couple differences between the old hickory's I've seen and this. For one it has three rivets in the handle instead of the two on a OH. Also the blade doesn't have the same pattern that most OH do. Last is it says "hammer forged in the USA" on the blade. You can also see where it said something on the handle but time and use have worn it away. It was very rusty when I first got it. Now its a razor sharp chopping machine.lol

Since butcher knives have come up, here's a beauty that I reworked a few years ago. It's a full 1/8th thick and 10 1/2 inch blade, marked Watson Bros. Glasgow (probably a merchants mark). I made the handle in a coffin shape from a 19th century Elm burl maul/mallet.

Edwood7,
How do you like the Winkler knife? do you have it mounted to your belt or your chest rig? did you go with the Kydex or the leather sheath? I ask because I've been considering one for the past few months now.
thanks
