That should be interesting.

And if that isn’t enough to handle the job, I’d suggest making friends with my neighbors.

They don’t seem to be afraid of much when they fly over my house at like 1,500 feet. :)

Honestly though if it was me, I would probably take the ASHBM in the first pic and a Sig P229 .40 if I didn’t have to take the gun through the 51st state. Do you know what the laws are for knife transport across/through the border? I know I wouldn’t even attempt taking something like that through the Mexican border, but I am in Arizona... Not really ever something I think about driving into Canada. Except when I remember that I am supposed to take a truck to Canada and bring back a lifetime supply of Caffrey’s.

So, based on this post, clearly my last one was late to the party. Enjoy the rest of you time up there. Don’t forget, when the sun goes down for the winter, the women up there get hungry... I’ll leave the rest to imagination.

A cornerstone of Canadian laws on knife possession is that a knife not be a weapon, strictly a tool. If asked by customs what uses you have for a blade in your possession and you respond with anything like “self defense”, they will likely confiscate. I lived within sight of the border in Washington state for several years and frequently crossed into Canada to hike in wild places. From my experience I’d suggest leaving expensive knives at home and be ready to lose whatever you’re carrying when you go through customs. Also, if you decide to take a Busse, don’t take one with the Busse Combat logo.
Thanks for the post, I was curious what the laws were. I know Canada has some seriously buzzard customs rules. There was a guy in an internet thread long ago that had brought back a blowgun from someplace in Africa. That was confiscated for some weapons law that I cannot remember. I believe he ended up after many months of fighting getting it back because it was deemed a historical relic. Lastly, if memory serves, the guy had spent something in the mid 5 figures for the thing, so that’s what actually started the thread. He was seeking advice on what avenues to pursue becaus he effectively lost a small fortune.

Stopped at some sacred Nisga'a hot springs in the lava field maybe a 1km walk into the bush from the road. Theres another larger pool not pictured.

The laws are very laxed inside the country aside from prohib things like doubble edges , autos , balis and a few other awesome things. Customs on the other hand try to make their own rules on occasion and i wouldnt risk bringing anything across the canadian border.. id have it shipped to my hotel weeks in advance worst case if i HAD to have one with me.

If you haven’t headed back south yet, be sure to make time to stop in at the Liard River Hot Springs. I believe that they’re open year round, or used to be anyway. After a long shift pulling long hour days, a soak in the springs will do you good.

And stop at the Toad River Lodge for a Salisbury steak. Maybe it’s extra delicious because every time I’ve had one it’s been after two weeks of Mountain House meals, but I recommend it. The inside of the lodge is uniquely decorated too. Every square inch of the bar counter, walls, and ceiling are covered with trucker hats. It is (or was) tradition to donate your hat whenever you stopped in for a meal. Kinda neat seeing hats for companies that haven’t existed for 20 years.

Safe work and travels.

Well after a quick google search that spots about 14 hours further north from where i was at. I was at the north western tip of the canadian coast across from the bottom of alaska
