Heavy Duty Folders - ZT, SMF, CRK, ER, etc.

Do the Strider and Sebenza get in arguments when carried in the same pocket?

I can verify it with a magnet, it is SS. They most likely misunderstood you, the 300 series uses a titanium framelock their other models use a SS liner lock.

Right you are. This is a surprising choice of material in my opinion. The knife is beastly heavy and they easily could have shaved a few ounces off the weight by making it from Titanium.

This is the email that I just received fro ZT Customer Service.

Vince- My apologies in regards to the misinformation. The liner under the G-10 is 410 stainless steel coated in Black Oxide I verified this with the engineering dept. Please let me know if you need anything else.

they prob made made the liner under the g10 out of stainless to save some money. it's not going to save all that much weight changing it over anyway. this knife is alittle too big to be EDC either way. for the price it should be Ti though

anyone know where to get a 300 for under 235? everywhere i look it's 235 but then i have people telling me they got it around 200

The people telling you that $200 stuff are yanking your chain. I don't believe it. Wholesalers aren't dealing them, ZT is dealer direct I think.

There is one dealer giving a cheap Kershaw with each 300 series sold and New Graham is giving a ballcap with them. I opted for the ballcap with NGK.

You can pick one up for much less than $200. When they come up on this forum's classifieds section they usually sell for around $160-$180. Of course you are buying second hand that's why it's cheaper, if you want brand new from a dealer the best price will be $230ish.

I bought a barely used 301 from someone on the for sale forum that switches out for about equal duty with a G10 Tyrade. I prefer heavy knives and I don't find either one too heavy for EDC. I carry one of these two knives every day as my main. I understand most people prefer a lighter EDC but it is just about perfect for me.

I originally bought a 300 new and carried it a few times before deciding I wanted to buy a used one for less to be my user and safe queen the 300 for now because it still looks new. It is the only knife I have with that is going to be babied for a while. I normally don't have a problem using any knife I buy but it is still the most expensive knife I own.

The 301 gets used for anything that I feel comfortable using a folder for with no concern for how it looks. The sidewalk commando stripes look better to me as the blade shows signs of use. I can't really add much to the good things that have already been said about the ZT. It continues to satisfy and be the cause of many smiles. :D

buying it used is good but for some reason i dont trust it. too many horror stories (not to say there are not some very trustworthy people on the boards). also i herd that the warranty is only for the original buyer. (could be wrong)

there was a website i found that had it for 187 . they said it wasn't damaged and they were brand new but i couldn't find any feedback on the site. it's hardcoretactical.com

The literature with my 300 said the warantee is non-transferable. For the money I saved on the 301 I think it was worth it to have to pay for any repairs that might be needed. Something could break from normal use but besides the torsion bar it seems unlikely. There is an even smaller chance of something breaking from proper use that I can't fix myself. Being used the most important thing for me is that it is not a dud out of the box. I guess time will tell if it works out for me.

As far as being ripped off it can happen but everything pointed to this seller being legit and he offered a full refund if I wasn't happy with it. You could barely tell it was used when I received it and I am at least as happy with the purchase as I am with the 300 I bought new.

I'm not suggesting one way or another, just giving my recent experience buying used through the for sale forum.

Kershaw warranties cover the knife, not the owner. If you're the second or the tenth owner of a 0301, and you have a problem, Kershaw will take care of it.

ER RAO is ultimate (absurdly, yeah!) heavy duty folder

The Kershaw warranty is stated on their website and says it is for the original purchaser, however there is no warranty card to be sent in and the procedure for obtaining warranty service does not require that you send in a receipt so there is no way for them to know if you are the original purchaser.

This is all the heavy duty folder I need

Not too many horror stories on this forum. In fact I would buy from the people on this forum any day before I bought from a website I've never heard of.
