Heavy Duty Folders - ZT, SMF, CRK, ER, etc.

didn't know that.. says it was avaliable at knife works no biggy i went with the 300.

bm, kershaw and spyderco all do have a good warrenty but i don't think they will replace them with extreme use like zt/strider would.

There is definitely not any BM Skirmishs available at Knife Works, especially considering they normally have the best prices on BMs. Those were sold long ago.

BTW, Zero Tolerance is a sub-company of Kershaw. Like I said before any of the big three will treat you well.

They are still out there on some shelves but they don't compare to a ZT300.

And there are also some very crappy ones like SOG, and myself and my Sons have broken and basically destroyed a few knives.

So that is why I care about the warranty

If there is still any on the shelves it's because they are asking full retail. As for them comparing I own both and they are two different beasts. With the ZT you have a thick heavy AO brick, which I love because I know I can put it up against just about any heavy task. With the Skirmish you have manual action, sleek custom like styling, and tighter tolerances. Both excellent knives that I don't want to get rid of.

And if you go back and read my post. With the knives he is looking at ($200+ & quality known companies) the odds of him really needing to use the warranty are slim. Most SOG models don't not fall under that criteria IMO, but they do stand behind their products. When I'm looking at an more expensive knife the lack of warranty would scare me, but I use my knives accordingly and know that if there is a problem it will be a manufacturing defect which I've yet to ever have a company not fix.

hey ar0matic that reminds me of something kind of funny.

I have seen a lot of this "sharp enough to shave" but I have NEVER once been able to shave the hair off of my arm. The sharpest knife I own is my spyderco military which can pop hairs at the right angle and can cut a peice of phonebook paper if you sit the knife upside down on the desk and drop the paper onto its edge but I cant shave with it.

Maybe my technique is bad but I dont see how that that knife could get any sharper. I dont use a straight razer though so I dont know, maybe I am just completely incompetent if it doesnt have 3 blades.

it was just an expression i used. some 300's dont come as sharp as say a 200 stock. most people just give it a few slight passes and it's just as razor sharp as the 200. the tests that guy did were with factory stock unmodified knives. all i was getting at

I would like to see a video of that. I am not saying this is not the truth but it is on the edge of believeability.

I do shave with a straight. Technique has a lot to do with it I bet. I haven't gotten any of my knives as sharp as my razors yet (literally popping a free hanging hair).

But once I do....I'm pretty sure I'll be trying to shave with it at least once.

you would have to have a really good camera and I dont.

obviously its not going to slice it in half but it will in fact cut the paper. its not much but I was able to get in the 4-5 mm range pretty consistantly just dropping the paper from about an inch above the blade. that is not insignifigant if you conisder both how thin the paper is and how slow its going.
