I'm looking for an extreme heavy use folder with at least 4-inch heavy carbon blade. The closest I've been able to come is CS Recon #1. Would like a conventional clip blade, the heavier the better - even to 1/4" Want it to replace fixed blade, for pocket carry. Do I have to go to a custom? Thanks for your help.

The closest thing I can think of to what you are after is a Strider SMF, but it isn't carbon steel. If that isn't a deal breaker you might want to check it out.

I only like carbon steel in my fixed blades, but I don't mind stainless in my folders.

Spyderco Manix. S30V blade, G10 handle, strong lock back, very nice folder.

I also like my mini manix, but it's not 1/4 nor carbon steel. I can't think of any big name carbon steel manufacturer.

If you are looking at BIG folders, then by all means handle the manix, military, BM 610, Al Mar SERE and Kershaw JYD2. None of them are up to your spec, but all a very nice.

No matter how heavy the blade, you are asking for Trouble when you ask a folder to do the job of a stout fixed blade!

Thanks for information. I'll take a close look at all of these blades. I'm not trying to replace a fixed blade, which I always have. I'm just looking for a very strong folder for pocket carry which will hold-up under heavy field use - an extra knife.
Thanks again,

+1 for the Queen Mountain Man.

None are Carbon steel but the Kershaw Zero tolerance, Benchmade Rukus, Extrema Ratio and TOPS folders are all about as tough as you can get !!!

Camillus 886...

But if you are going to carry something that heavy (assuming you can find one) you might as well carry a Becker BK7 :p :D
