Hello & Survive! Knife mods

I have to admit, the USA scales are so incredible, I literally do not believe they're real, gotta be a trick of some kind, like green-scales that have an image projected upon them... too amazing.

Welcome fbhandler glad to see you posting here, would you not be satisfied with a ferro notch? If not I get making your knife fit your needs I'm just curious.

I've really considered the notch ... But I sure like being able to sharpen that tip up as well.... I've done some more digging around here and seen/read of guys doin it with 3v, so once I get the courage up, I'll end up givin it a whirl...

Those are pretty sweet scales... What did you use to color em?? Will it wear off if used ??

Hey Justin .. Thanks, p.s. Got a good laugh reading your advice for Guy&Ellie... They probably did too !!

Oh I doubt they even read it. Most people didn't!! I hope Ellie is in a good mood when she sees the title, or I am probably going to find I wish I hand't wrote it lol.

Well if a pee bucket hat and a future Guy don't fix things nothing could !!

Im wonderin how it will go with a file... I'm also concerned as how it will look,as I'm going to do the whole spine right up to the jimping, and I'm wondering what the transition will look like from the chamfered edge to the square, not to mention it will be lower. Not a real big deal on a $50 or $60 knife ... Little different on a $250 discontinued grail blade [emoji57]

Some of those old spec knives were tumbled for a while, meaning there could be a lot of material that needs removed to get to a true 90 degree spine. You are on the right track with having the transition happen in the jimping, that helps to hide the differences when giving the knife a quick glance. Just remember to go slow, you can always take more material off but you can't put more back on. Good luck! Looking forward to seeing how it goes.

I saw the title at quick glance the other day and experienced a jump in blood pressure, hahah. I still clicked on it though and was relieved to learn about the feasibility of having a much needed cage added to the workshop. Definitely some great ideas mentioned, though I'm confident we won't be implementing all of them, we will do what we can. :D

Yay! Ellie is back all in one piece (I hope) and ready to fire on all cylinders.

For those keeping scores: I sent an email request yesterday to modify some preorder options and I received confirmation today. Just waiting for order fulfillment on my extra kydex sheath (old school GSO 5.0) so I can go ahead and give you a 5 star rating on Yelp, or is it Welp? Maybe Phelp? Or is it Gulp?... Anyway, you get the gist :D

It's alittle bulky, and it comes in at 24oz but it's got everything I need I one package. The sheath adaptor is done by Red feather gear and it's a nice/needed addition. I run a TOPS style clip, I know a lot of people don't like those, but for my purposes I find it's the most versatile and lightweight option ...

The knife...

I like being able to rotate that clip, as well as easy on and off. With my loop at the bottom and turning that clip 90* I can carry it scout fashion.... Like that when I'm in my canoe !!

Appreciate that... Thanks, it took me awhile to get my set up it nailed down... but now that I have, I tend to try and keep it the same... From blade to blade
