Understood, but after checking the linked thread I would have thought at least ONE of those guys would have followed through with LE.
I guess once they got their stuff back, they forgot about it.
That is one of the reasons these guys are able to keep scamming, they’re not held accountable.
I can’t imagine how much he’s gotten away with.

This is why I think it’s important to notify the FEDS. FBI will see the big picture—multi-jurisdictional—and probably have the better set of charges/punishments/fines including cybercrime.

Otherwise, these may appear as isolated, one-off incidences with no common tie to the same perp.

Victims do not follow through with LE, for various reasons. There are time constraints, monetary restrictions, and fear of retribution. The con artists know this, and use it to their best advantage. They are counting on the fact that most people will cut their losses, and just move on.
