Help Doc! She has spots and complains of ringing in her ears and halucinations.

Dang! Double post! I dont know if that ever happened to me before! Maybe my wife has one of them dolls?

It goes on your forearms. Hands grasped together. One inner elbow on the horn. One inner elbow on the table overhang. Bend your knees to lower your body, wrap your arms around the anvil, grasp your hands together, and come straight up. Of course, buddies and wheel barrows can be of assistance......There were Acme anvils made in Trenton and so marked. If you had the bucks, I'd have someone sand blast the sides, table and horn for you, leaving the bed or face untouched, and paint that thing. Measure your hardy hole for me.

Dang it, I was going to answer the how to move the anvil question. My version was. "Point with index finger to where you want it. Mention same to hubby at least thrice ah hour until it gets there because he is tired of hearing it." :D

Smart girl!!!:D

OK Ill measure. Im pretty sure its 3/4. The pritchel is 1/2" for sure. Ill verify when I get home this eve.

I was gonna say use my power chair, make sure your feet are out of the way, I've broken both feet neglecting that step, and just push the anvil and the stand together at once.

Don't pick it up, you might hurt your back. OUCH!

I'm feeling a little left out, don't have a hardy hole to measure.

I could send you one. Ill send you a pritchel hole to go with it too. Should fit in a triangel box eh?

I can blast it and will definitely paint it. I measured the hardy hole and its a bit over 3/4". I get 0.850" or little over 3/4". Its not mushroomed inside or anything. Just a few chips but nothing major. I suppose id have to use a 3/4 " round to make the dog? Thanks again Doc!

I think I can do this.

You'll save a lot of coal/charcoal, time, and labor if you can use an old jack handle. Use a hack saw to cut both sides of the angle to the length you want. Amazing how well they hold.

so cool, something very sorcerous about an anvil; great deal of power unfolds from there.

There is a mystery. There is an aura. There is a desire to think positively about it. There is something yet dark surrounding it. Make sure your horse shoe is hung up the correct direction. Warning. Here they be dragons....if not Satan.

Oh Dear! I get the pointed up part so your luck dont run out but reckon I shoulda removed the horse first:rolleyes:
Oh well. ..I got a pile of horse dung to stoke the forge now.

I gotta make me one of them weather vanes for the top of my dome! That is too khul:thumbup:

Always thought the weathervane was cool too. The whole place seems pretty neat to me, well maybe neat isn't the right word but cool for sure.

Funny how yall influence a half man, I got no need or use for an anvil but I find myself wanting a great big one! Why is that.

Almost as bad as that pretty bowie, I just gotta have one ya know?

"Funny how yall influence a half man." What ever do you mean, Bawanna? I don't know any half men at all.....so knock that sheet off. Thank you.

I am incompetent with all things mechanical and would probably only hurt myself, but I too have wanted an anvil for a long time, with no real skills to speak of, it is still very awesome.

You could get one of each size and line them all up and play them like Neil Pert or Keith Moon. Dont know if anyone has ever done that? Dont know how you would tune them tho?

Don't interupt me. I'm focusing on how to move my anvil properly when I get it. Elbows, straight back, crush lap, have helper push to destination. Remove trying to avoid feet very carefully.

Hammer away.......................... I think I got it.

What's the biggest anvil the world has ever known? That's the one I want, I want to start at the top.

Maybe if it's big enough I won't need the stump to hold it up.

Wow. Now I understand why you go around singing that Beatles song "Baby, I'm a rich man, baby I'ma rich man, baby I'ma rich man, too." You gotta have bucks. Probably a ski bum ever winter too. You want the world's largest anvil?!! Dude! It's just happens to be Anvil Mountain back behind Silverton. Colorado. Here's a drawing from 1920. Man, loan me a few thou, O.K.? There's this little 48 oz. khukuri I wanna buy.....

I'd like that. My own big anvil and a mountain too. Colorado ain't so bad neither.

Well I fired up the forge this weekend Doc. I know it aint like yours but it worked. I used my shop vac connected to a variac transformer so I could adjust the airflow and seemed to get pretty hot.

Anvil needed some touch up.

I was really surprised how sharp you can get a knife just by peening. Finally got some use outta that cheap Chinese belt sander:D

Getting perturbed with the vice grips and channel locks I decided to make me a set of tongs. I fullered and twisted out an area for the pivot pin and then beat it all square.

After a bit of trimming and pin installation this is what i ended up with. It still needs some adjusting to hold plate stuff but a couple hours and scrap id say this project was a success. Only one thing left to do. Test it out and celebrate!!!
