I have been in the same position as others on these forums. I paid Roger in full for my knife on April 16, 2007. At the time he emailed me, he wrote, "Hi. According to my notes I received payment April 16. All is well. Your knife is being made. It will still be a while but the blade is almost ready for me to mill the saw teeth and then heat treat. Its looking good." Eighteen months later, Im wondering how good it looks, cause I have heard nothing from him since I sent him the balance. I understand that good craftsmanship takes time, but when you are a one man business AND a RESPONSIBLE businessman, you owe it to your customers to give them the treatment you would expect as well as providing a service in a reasonable amount of time. It seems Roger is making a living on advance sales that he cannot deliver in a timely manner. It appears he is taking way too many orders than his "one man shop" can produce! The lack of communication is one thing when there are extenuating circumstances; However, it seems from reading this forum that this pattern of behaviour has been going on for many many years! Simply put, DONT PROMISE TO DELIVER WHAT YOU CANNOT! With my inital deposit, I have been waiting for over 36 months now. And the last 18 without one iota of communication from Roger. Any reasonable person would agree he is not holding up his fair share of a business deal if that is how he treats customers.
