help! I got mice...

You need some feline friends always on the ready always on the lookout for rodents.

Block up as many openings from the passenger compartment as you can, go buy a big block of dry ice, and stick it in the car. It will sublimate out to gaseous carbon dioxide, killing the mice. :)

Which you will then have to find before the car becomes untenable. :barf:

OR:

Sell the car. Don't mention the free mice. :D

I used to push the bait lever down until it was about ready to release, make sure you hold the piece of metal that hits the mice or it will get you. You can get this to a hair trigger release. Be warned though, if you have two mice and one sees his mate in the trap your chances are slim to none that you will catch the other. When I baited a trap I would go to bed a little early and listen for the trap to spring, then re-baiting and 95% of the time I would catch the other one too. They seem to travel in pairs. Good luck getting them out of your car, I once had one in my boat and I never got him out.

I used to use peanut butter, until they figured out how to get it off. Now I use Nestle Crunch bars, break into small squares, use a lighter or match to melt part of it, and then stick it (the melted part) to the bait part of the trap. When it cools, it is stuck on there. Works all the time, now.

I live in a duplex and we had a mouse problem one time. My neighbors poisoned them (without warning us) and they died behind walls, under cabinets, and where ever else they hide. The whole house stenched of these dead rotting maggot infested mouse. It was a bitch to find their carcass in tiny holes and walls to get rid of the smell. So for the sake of smell, don't poison them!

This is clearly an opportunity to practice your survival skills.
Brush up on the fig. four trap, snares ....etc. If all else fails then
go to the TNT.

Go Down East an' get ya one of these here cats, a-yup

That's a 24 pound Maine Coon cat.

I lived in NYC for 30 somthing years and worked in building maintence (fancy name for a janitor) for ten years or so, people never understood when I explained that mice were good because it meant you didn't have rats...

I used to use peanut butter, until they figured out how to get it off.
Now I know where the mice came from...
Checked the traps this morning: no mice, no peanutbutter:grumpy:

Guyon: Nice pic:D

ashtxsniper: Have thought of that too, but I'm a little low on cash for the moment. If I'm not succsessful in my little war before payday, it's one of the first things on my shopping-list;)

If they are getting the peanut butter off your trap, your trap is junk. There is no way a mouse should be able to eat that off the trigger w/o setting it off. I've used it plenty of times, and there is no chance for them to figure out anything, first time is last time.

Blue Sky: I'll take a look at the trigger mechanism. Maybe I'll do what Magneto suggested.

Get a pet Boa Constrictor for the car. :D

I have not had a mouse problem since I was a kid. I have two cats a dog and several pet snakes (in cages... but I think the mice know better) as well as many wild snakes in my yard.

I had a bull snake get lost when I used to live in a city apartment. His buddy was the same size and only grew about one foot longer in the year that his buddy was missing, while the escaped bullsnake grew from two to four feet!
He was just living in the floorboards and walls, and was able to eat enough to grow more than his well fed brother in captivity!

I wouldn't put a snake in my car (because I like my snakes too much), but I would use the sticky pads tacked to a small piece of board, so it really stays put and does not mess stuff up. Just make sure no human passengers sit on them.

I have a few cats and they sometimes hunt in a pack, ain't nothing that walks or crawls that is safe including my toes :P

Don't use cats- whenever mine makes a kill, she leaves the pieces she doesn't want scattered everywhere.

Imagine the upholstery...

sad to say that the traps didn't work this thime either... I made shure it had a "hair-trigger" after baiting it with pb. I even borrowed a trap from a friend. same result as before.
I did find one dead mouse...it had been eating a cigarett that was lying under the front-seat.

Think I'll Try to bate with some minty dental-floss (or maybe some sticky caramell)today.
This is getting rediculous.
