OK guys, you all know I have a pile of 4" knives...I am however missing from my collection a real bushcraft knife..I saw a picture of a Marsh bushcraft knife, and its just what I'm looking for...I have to admit, I don't know much about all the good makers out there, and I should try to look it all up on my own, but alas...I know all I have to do is ask you guys and I'll have a complete list in short order. SOOOOoooo....who is a good maker and what are my options? What am I going to pay (approx.) and what do I have to do to get one. I know alot of you guys have these, so for all us guys that don't, lets make it clear...what do I or anyone else have to go through to get into one of these fine blades? I don't mind if you want to tell me I'm lazy either, its my birthday today, and I am drinking already...not really good behavior, but hell, I'm getting old...and lazy. Thanks, Gene:D

I saw those, and I am planning on getting one, I figured I'd wait for the hubbub to die down first, I hate a long wait. I am more into drop points right now, I think they drill better, I could be wrong though. Thanks by the way, I am having friends over later, and Charliedontsurf is coming and cooking me some fajita's later...we will be very drunk later...I have the best girlfriend in the world, she puts up with my crap....whatch out, I'm hijacking my own thread..already buzzed! I traded for a CR shadow III this morning, a little present for myself, I like it. Thanks T, Gene:D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GENE...:D

great thread to start up... i have also been thinking about ordering some kind (uk)bushcraft style knife.... i like the skookum knife, but it just isn't what i'm looking for....

myakka has a nice collection.... i'm sure he'll chime in later....:)

Happy Birthday!

Not to be jerky, but what is a "bushcraft" knife? When I think bushcraft, I think of Nessmuk or Kephart - long term hanging out in the woods - camp craft if you will.

I just got back from the range, (new CMP M1 carbine ran great!) and have one beer down. Many to follow, wife and child are at in-laws in Alabama and I have a couple Deadwood DVD's from Netflics to watch.

Bushcraft is more of a UK term, and there is a specific knife designed by Ray Mears that suits the term.

Deadwood is awesome!

I can't believe Rome is still on but they cancelled Deadwood.

Al Swearengen for President!!!!!!!

Deadwood is the best show to ever air. My wife and I have watched all 3 seasons and plan on buying all eventually.

WHAT!!!! I have been on another planet I guess...I can't believe a stupid show like ROME is still on when a mean ass, cool, evil show like DEADWOOD is canceled...its the end guys...prepare yourselves. Holowdweller...you are my dad now...so can you leave me all those knives in your will? PLEASE! I thought this would make a good thread, I wasn't sure...usually I just show you guys my knive3s and talk crap....I hope this is a useful thread. I happen to never get tired of bushcraft knife pics...so if everyone posts pics and who made them, we'll all be good. Gene.

Everytime I hear Bushcraft knife, either SWC or the Woodlore appear in my head. Happy birthday! Its my Dad's birthday too.

Ragweed Forge sells some great Scandi/Bushcraft knives I really like the Iisakki Järvenpää Knives check out the link here:

I really like the Classic Utility Knife #8224

It's an old classic, with a 3 1/4" (8cm) carbon steel blade, curly birch handle, and traditional leather sheath. I like the way this one feels. It has a nicely minimalist look and is about all the knife anyone really needs. $39.

Here is a photo of mine.
