The recent "Buy American" thread got me thinking about the amount of knife companies currently manufacturing solely within the USA. The large knifemaking corporations often claim that they have to outsource labor in order to remain competitive in the market. I don't entirely agree with that statement.

Please help me compile a list of current manufacturers and knifemakers that produce knives soley within the USA. American knife manufacturers who contract labor outside of the US are excluded from this list. This list serves as a reference for everyone interested in supporting these knifemakers, and to show that companies can remain domestic and still survive in a global economy. All BFC knifemakers who meet the above criteria please include yourselves as well.

I will try to research and update the list when I can. Please try to avoid derailing the thread with political discussion and keep the thread on track.

I think we are looking for definitive answers, not guesses. This might be difficult in some cases where little pieces are outsourced.

Definitive would be nice.

And if I have made a mistake on the list, please correct me.

:)

Case!!! The biggest all-American maker still in business?
Great Eastern Cutlery
Canal Street

I'm pretty sure William Henry is doing everything stateside these days, and I believe Queen does so as well.

I believe Buck has moved all of their operations back to the U.S.

Also Randall and Ruana.

Would you still consider ESEE with the lite machete blade being from El Salvador? Also the HEST Folder coming from Italy?

Thanks, their website says the Lite Machete is Rowen mfg.

The HEST folder isn't here yet, but you're correct. They can remain until the folder is released

The handle is put on, but the blade is from El Salvador. Didn't know if you'd consider that or not. :)

Specs:

O.A Length: 23.5"
O.A. Handle Length: 6.0"
O.A Handle Thickness: .88"
Blade Thickness: ,065"
Weight: 17 Ounces (Knife Only)
Convexed Edge
Natural Micarta Handles (Removable)
1075 Blade Steel
Blade Made In El Salvador - Handle Made In The USA

the razionale is made in italy.

though the website states clearly it is not a crk product, it does have reeve's name on the blade (along with harsey) as a designer. may not matter for your list.

darrel ralph
todd begg
bob dozier (his stuff, don't know about the kabars or bokers)

I think you could put Benchmade on there as long as you specify that only their standard line is all US made. Their HK and HD lines do have some imported models.

Despite outsourcing for HK and HD, I feel like they should be rewarded (via this thread) for getting rid of their imported red class.

I would love to add Benchmade and I commend them for the move they are making toward full domestic production. But alas, they aren't quite there yet.

Surefire

I know they're basically all flashlights, but they make a few knives too.
