Greetings!

I am getting a new puppy on Tuesday. A Lhasa Apso (I'm addicted to them) male who is 6 months old. His current name is Tango. The name doesn't thrill me.

I am considering Baa-Baa, from the nursery rhyme. I could use some help with suggestions for cool names for a black dog.

Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir,
Three bags full.

One for the master,
One for the dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.

Baa-Baa is too cutesy and will result in your Lhasa Apso turning gay. ;)

How about something reflecting the Tibetan history of the breed like Tenzin (a common Tibetan name) or some Buddhist concepts like Bodhisattva, or Prajna or Samadhi?

Or you could just call him Al.

Sheesh. I have to call him a name I can at least pronounce! Bodhisattva? I do like the idea of a Tibetan name, however. Many of my Lhasa breeder friends use Tibetan names for their dogs. Others use "themes." Tango is the result of a "dance" theme litter.

My Lhasa was named "Honey Badger" (we called her Badger). She was my constant companion for over 14 years, 'till her kidney failure forced me to make that awful decision.

Honey badgers are small but fierce animals from africa. Their charges are so ferocious that elephants back down from them. A lot of power in a small package.

Lhasas are a wonderful breed, loyal, faithful, smart, and excellent judges of character. If yours alerts on someone, trust his instincts.

You post brought back fond memories... thanx for that. Feel free to use "badger" or give him a little time, he will show you what his name should be. Always consider knife names...Cricket, Dodo, Elishewitz :-), ATR, Busse, Kit Carson, etc...

Good luck, let us know what you decide.

i think they saw you coming from a mile away-

thats just a real ugly cat- of coarse that size is also good for drop kicks-

name it gerbil ;)

Here is How to pick a name for a new Pet.:)

Take your list of names and stand outside in front of your place.

The names that you are not afraid to yell at the top of your voice will be the best names for your new Dog and will narrow the list of names down.:D

That's a good point. Do you really want to stand on your porch and yell BAA-BAA! BAA-BAA! at suppertime?

You.
Hey you, come over here. You, get off the couch, gimmie my shoe back you.

Name him Kitty. Then you can stand on your porch and yell .... Here Kitty, Kitty! ;)
