Yes it is... I make all my stuff with a convex..... mostly just the secondary bevel. I try to hammer a flat bevel from the spine to 1/16" thick at the edge, then convex after heat treat.
Now, that makes sense. You really do better with thin blades for scandis, sure. Those utility and throwing knives I do that are so thick are full convex grinds. I like the idea of a flat "grind" to a final convex grind, too.
