That was a fun GAW. It's cool seeing the variety of wished for knives.

Good job Brett and congratulations Robbw!

Congrats to both of you!! That's a beautiful knife to drop in your pocket. It sure was fun seeing what everybody picked. Great GAW all around. Thanks for the chance, Brett.

Congratulations RobbW, excellent prize selection!:thumbup: Something both you and KBA will enjoy.:)
Thanks again KBA for your generousity, it was interesting to see all the different choices in this GAW.

Great GAW Brett Thanks for the opportunity. Congrats Rob for the great suggestion !! I hope the Bernard work out well for both!!

What can I say but that Brett is a man of taste and discernment. ;) :D

Seriously, I'm grateful for his generosity and the goodwill this forum fosters. It's a great place to be!

I've admired that knife for about a year now. I tend to think carefully about any purchases. As I've compared fixed blades, and reviews of fixed blades, I kept coming back to this one. It seems the ideal size, blade shape, steel and handle material for me. The only thing that prevented me from making a purchase earlier were the limited runs of Charlows, Chapman pruners, and Grinling whittlers. These were all knives that sold as soon as they went to market.

So, I'm glad to finally get an Arno Bernard, and from a great forum member, commemorating such a great life event. It looks like the perfect fixed-blade daily user.

PM sent.

Robb, congratulations on winning just what you asked for!!:thumbup: I hope Brett will like his as much as you do! :D:D More of the fixed blade fever that's sweeping through the subforum recently.:p
Thanks for hosting this creative and very generous GAW, Brett!:cool: I agree with what several others have posted about how interesting it was to see what the entrants suggested/requested.

Congratulations! What a way to usher in a new child. I've been away a while myself--lots of good family things and travel for the past few months.

I've been toying with the idea of a pocketable, fixed-blade knife. Not a really-too-big-to-pocket-carry knife, but a very diminutive fixed blade that could be carried comfortably in a front pocket. At a scant 5" OAL and a blade shape that looks perfect, I present the Arno Bernard Bush Baby Dassie in giraffe bone:

Congrats to RobbW! You have won a new Arno Bernard! :D

A pm has been sent to you buddy.

I have never owned a Bernard. For that matter I have never owned N690 or 440c which from what I read N690 is close to it. This will certainly be a first for me. Thanks for picking out a beauty imo.

Congrats again

Thanks to all the who posted and thank you again for the kindness.

Well-chosen, Brett, and congratulations, Robb!

You guys are in for a real treat; Arno Bernard's exquisite eye and finish work is worth having in hand to appreciate. I look forward to hearing your impressions. :)
