Help Needed!

Jim, the knife and the CAD disk are on the way. I think etching the cross would look good. C.F.D. on one side and R.S. on the other.
 
The handle holes need to be drilled at 7/32nd's for smaller corby's,or 3/16th for larger.I recommend the smaller for this knife.The holes must be done prior to heat treating.Also the logo if engraved should be done prior to heat treating unless its going to be acid etched.Shoot me an email so I can send my address and phone number.Some conceptual drawings of a sheath would help too,or you can leave it up to me.
 
Heres the blade. CPM3V .260". Holes are .187". OAL is 12.5" and 1.5" tall. Its a beast! Should be able to punch out glass and pry anything open.

Well, Dave sent the piece of steel and I spend a bit of time with it this AM after a phone call to him, this is where I am at. The area near the handle is going to be a good cutting angle while the edges near the end will be more chisel like. The angles there are actually flater than they appear in this photo. Less than 45 degrees. Grinding "trapped" between the 2 plunges for the cutting edge is challenging. Some finer grits and some work on the plunges and off to my oven. Jim

Here it is ground and hardened, After the 3 temper cycles at 1000 degrees. Yes thats right for this steel, I took it out of the stainless foil envelope and messed around with it and my bead blaster then, I had a brain storm and placed it in the oven for a few minutes at 1000f and took it out and it was darker than before, then I blasted it with garnet and took it to the a buffer and gave it a good buff, then polished the emblem with a craytex wheel.

Jim, that looks great! Nice job on the grinds. When it gets back its off to get the laser engraving locally then it heads to California "McAhron" to get the scales and sheath done.
 
I tell you what, a door or window frame or something of the sort wouldn't stand a chance against this thing once it gets a handle. Should be able to pry, hack, chisel, twist snap or cut your way into or out of. Thats by hand, I can imagine if you used it with something to hammer on it.
 
Looks mighty fine.The finish is a cool process.I'm going to order some orange g-10 for the sheath and make it so it can be used as a handle when using the butt end of the tool.That way no stiches from sliping while using it.
 
Got the blade back from ib2v4u. Great work Jim! Next its to the engraver then off to McAhron for the finishing touches. Thanks guys for your help!:thumbup:
