Help with folder sizes

You make the big knives you really like for all the men to buy and those itty bitty ones Goldie likes for all the women and the girly boys to buy.
Problem solved.
You're welcome.

Whoa there WIL, just how long is your knife in the closed position?

A.G., not to be a smart alec, but it sounds like if you want to make 'em, go with 4 1/4" - 5 1/2" -- if you want to sell 'em, go with 3 1/4" - 3 5/8" :D

Personal preference is 3 5/8" area.

Well, I have always found that if I like it many of my customers will also.
The only bad mistake I made was a HUGE smatchet type with deep fullers. It was the ultimate jungle knife toward the end of Vietnam. Whenever Goldie thinks something will not sell (like the Beak) she reminds me of that big jungle knife. She is more often right than not and it looks as if she has a clue aqbout what folks want to carry, I will do small and continue large as well.

Dare we ask?

Did the Beak sell well? LOL

Some of my favorite knives are in the 3.75 to 4 in. size, but I would say a medium size of 3.25-3.5 is best. I have been carrying my Peanut alot lately and it is great, but don't really care for tiny patterns. The Peanut feels like a bigger knife.

I would be willing to bet that more was done with little knives in history than big ones. I would also dare say that some members on this forum do more with a peanut in a month than most people do in a year.
Nothing wrong with big knives, but little knives make you use your brain more and size less.

I like larger patterns when I'm in the field, but prefer medium sized ones for day to day carry. That being said I usually buy a knife that has a combination of the right scale material for a given pattern that's eye appealing. Mix that with a proven steel and you'll have me opening my wallet! In fact if I'm so smitten/inclined I'll use plastic just to satisfy my "instant gratification" weakness:eek: and it really is a great weakness:D

I will say the 2008 Texas Ranger knife from AG is one of my all time favorites and it is 4 1/4 closed...gets carried in a pancake belt pouch from DM Bullard. I would love to see more in this size...

I carry a 5 1/2" and a 3 1/2"-4" (blade length). My longest is 7", but it doesn't fit in all of my pockets.
