Here Are Two Of The SLUTS That Are Coming To Tulsa, OK. . . .

Bingo! Exactly what I was getting at (well, trying not to get slapped in the meantime) Its either one or the other. Double standards aren't good.

I'm open to whatever it comes to, adult or family, I just want to know which. I am a moderator at a VERY open forum, language is for lack of a better word harsh. But its that way, period. No in between.

We're in agreement there my friend. Personally it'd be nice if it was more adult oriented.

 agreed 100% I dont really care which was it goes, but I'd really like to know which way before I get into more trouble. :o

It's not so much the term but sometimes people on this forum can take anything and get carried away with it. I know three female Busse staff that comes on here and I have a good friend Robin that comes on here. I don't want it to where they are offended and don't come on here anymore. We are supposed to be HOGS not PIGS...

Agreed 100%...

I have to agree with Dan & JaXX on this one. I'd still like to find a proxy to score me one of these though:D

In response to several posts below...

As to the "you can't have both" thing...not necessarily true... Hollyweird's been doing it for decades with movies that although are for kids, do have a few 'zingers that are in the dialog more for the benefit of the adults who have to sit through these movies. A forum can be clean, yet still be "adult". A very smart person told me once that when it comes to the Internet, don't say anything that you wouldn't feel comfortable saying in a room full of mixed company. To expand on this, don't say anything that the average person wouldn't consider appropriate. This discussion forum IS that "room full of mixed company" and you can still keep it clean, yet cleverly insert those more adult "zingers" without offending anyone, at least more than mildly.

As for the name concerning the knives here, it does offend me...not because my "virgin ears" can't take it (ha!), but because as it is a slang of the harsher variety used to insult women and so I do feel it is inappropriate in a forum where women actually participate... And most of these lovely ladies I consider to be friends of mine. If racial slurs are not acceptable here or anywhere else, than why should gender related slurs be? It is disrespectful.

As for taking offense over something like this when these knives have skullcrushers, knuckle-guards, etc., and are meant for killing, yada-yada-yada... Has ANYONE here actually used a Busse in this manner??? ...Or do we find better, more constructive, non-violent, and fun ways to use our knives? Can this concept be applied to this forum??? I think so... :)

As for the promoting alcohol abuse thing... After that recent thread over how much we all really drink and how most responses were "not much", I think that it's safe to say that this is more a tongue in cheek humor thing than actual alcohol abuse. Personally, I drink more at the BLADE show than I do the rest of the year... and that ain't saying much. Jerry says "Let's Drink"...not "Let's Drink To Excess".

Finally, brothers... If you find that the alcohol issue bothers you, but not the gender slur...Try standing in the shoes of the ladies who visit and participate here.

JMO, for what it's worth......

PG on language, PG-13 on humor. R on nudity...as it pertains to KNIVES only...what's a knife forum without stripping??? ;)

ETA: As I've been learning, it is not completely B&W... there IS some grey too. For example...

"Wow! That knife is the cat's azz!"
"You are an azz."

Assuming that both have "ass" instead, the second sentence in quotes above is going to get some special attention from me...know what I mean? Common sense is needed to post here... And I believe that you know this. :)

This thread has sufficiently run way off course.

The acronym A SLUT is meant tongue in cheek since it is TULSA spelled backwards and that is the place where these will debut. It is also a very descriptive phrase that describes the very nature of these blades, "Super Lightweight & Ultra Thick".

It was NEVER meant to offend anyone. . . . . . This is being taken WAY out of context!!!!! . . . YOWZA!!!!! . . . .

Try to take it in the spirit of fun and jest in which it was meant.

Let's all take a breath and drink something. . .

Jerry

Damn You Jerry!! That mean these A SLUTS ain't makin it to Easton? Can you Bring Some E SLUTS then??:p

As far as the Kid thing goes. I respect a "Normal posting" rule.We are Adults that spend our Mortgage and car Payment money on Knives....Er...Wait...Did I say that out loud?? :foot:

But My Kids ain't allowed to look over my Shoulder. I'd get locked up fer dang sake!!

Jerry,
As I have learned the hard way, what it intended and how its taken are two completely different things sometimes. I realize the spirit of what is intended, but the word itself can be taken as really offensive. In this industry, and in this community, things can be taken and ran along with gusto. Especially when it has a barn door like opening for ridicule and lampoon. Sometimes it seems like some people are just looking for reasons to start a campaign.

Evidently this was locked? I'm glad it was unlocked, this really needs to be discussed and not pushed off. We as a community tend to police ourselves, and as such I've seen people corrected for innuendo and offensive language not too far off from what slut brings to mind. To me, slut is not a family friendly subject.

Supper time,

LETS EAT!!

Jerry's house, Jerry's rules...

I recognize that, and respect his decision, whatever it may be.

That said, while the discussion is still open:

I find the pseudo-PG, Hollywood-esque, trying-to-be-too-clever nonsense just silly.

Like watching Pulp Fiction on cable during dinner time, needlessly neutered and lame.

IMO those who are opposed and somehow offended are kidding themselves under the guise of it somehow being cleaner and better when it's really nothing of the sort.

Drinking, smoking, hunting, skinning, blood, guns, combat knives, sexual innuendos, all ok? Any kid/female/sensitive-man old enough to care will surely recognize what's said...

An arbitrary and unnecessary distinction is being made, which isn't in sync with real life/reality, IMO. It's 2010, not 1842, and technology/the internet and the access to information they provide, makes this silly/futile.

My last ten cents.

Respectfully,

Me

Ah, the power of the Bossman to lock & unlock threads at will... ;)
