Here we go, daily carry and use of a small wood inlayed sebenza.

As always, very great read! You should be writing for knives!

The small bocote is most definitely my favorite, my large Gabon gets used once a while.

Last weekend I helped my buddy renovate his house and the small sebenza even cut through drywall. Dulled and scuffed the blade a little, but polished up easily.

I love seeing people's faces when they cut something and their eyes pop open and say 'damn thing is sharp!'.

That's the best read I've had in here in a long time, thanks. My experience with my small sebenzas is very similar. I have never damaged the wood and every thing else is as you reported: livable marks that give the knife character. It took some time for me to get here (2-3 years) but now my go to knife is the small, beefyer than the mnandi and more managable than the large.

Thanks everyone for your kind words regarding my rambles. I don't take these compliments for granted, as I know they come from a discerning crowd. I am glad I could add. :)

Clipped mine on picket all day.

Getting a lot of use today
Food prep, trimming plants, and boxes at work.

Still no sign of wear.

Did anyone here actually have a doubt as to how the knife would hold up? :)

Great thread Cody!

Kid, thanks very much for doing this test for all of us. I use my CRK's regularly (got my large 21 insingo micarta at work right now) and take satisfaction in seeing their charachter develop over time with reasonable use.

What really makes me relieved is seeing how well the wood inlays held up. I have no wood inlay CRK's because I wasn't sure if they would be affected by daily use or no-maintenance care of the wood. But as the wood sounds like it is stabilized and holds up so well, no worries any more. :)

Looking at your pics of your test sebenza, I would not think it had gone through what you had put it through. Thanks again for such a great contribution.

Thank you Socom1970. I'm glad I could make a contribution to this great group on the CRK sub-forum.

I should post pictures of that small sebbie I posted used to cut bananas.

Been over a year and it looks exactly the same.

Thanks to this thread I've decided to get a small bocote to use as my daily carry instead of the plain jane I have used for a few years.

Enablers, consider yourselves successful.

Cody,
I think you should receive a Pulitzer from Blade Forums. Your posts are award winning.
Thank you for your wonderful writing.

Great review! Really enjoyed it. Trying to decide between plain Jane lg 21 or 25. Used to have a small 21 but sold it. Reading this thread brought me back some memories.
Again, thanx for a great review and looking forward to your next one.
Cheers,

What a great experiment! Thanks for sharing! I'm going to switch out my plain Seb in my pocket for my Cocobolo today.

Here goes. Out with the plain Jane small 21, and in with the bocote. It sure is pretty, and not all scraped up, like my current 21. KSF did a great job getting it over the border with minimal fuss.

I entertained the idea of keeping the lanyard on, and carrying it in the slip case deep in my pocket. But I only entertained it for about 30 seconds. I like being able to get the knife out one handed, without having to fiddle with a case. The case involved too many steps and took too many hands. So, just like all my other Sebenzas, the lanyard and pin came out within a few minutes, right after I took the pic below.

Now that it's here, I find I'm worried about that first scratch. I hope it happens quickly, so I don't dwell on it too much.

^ nice inlay.
Looking for a large in bocote with a nice grain like that (and my small bocote).

Hey Cody great review! You motivated me to get a large left hand snakewood inlay from the knife shop in Costa Mesa. It's beautiful.
