I traded a knife for this 33 SFO. I planned to carry it often and grow old with it. To see the patina develop and hand it down to someone else to enjoy. I had not even had the time to get a picture of it, let alone use it, before I realized I had no idea where it was. I've looked for a week or so now and no luck. It is the first knife I have truly lost and haven't found. It just kills me that I haven't turned over the stone it is under.

I have read a few post on lost pocket knives and thought a thread may appropriate way to find closer to those new, used, loved and lost. Even if it is only for a few days. :)

A borrowed pic from Rockon

Maybe I will find it. My daughter has been hiding things a lot lately.

Unless you misplaced it while out, Im sure it will turn up. It make some time but if its in your house you will eventually find it. I love finding something I have lost and thought long gone. Ive done that with several knives.

I did take it out once, but really have no idea the last time I saw it.

I haven't given up the hunt. :)

Very sorry to hear that, good luck, sometimes they turn up in the weirdest places at a much later date.

Classy looking knife, I hope it turns up soon!

I see that it is a Northfield without a bail. Didn't all the Northfield 33s have a bail? Was this because it was a SFO, or becuase it was removed at some point?

Hey Brett, try looking in those places you would never dream of putting it. Sometimes we all change our regular habits for just a moment and the next thing you know we can't find what we are looking for.

Check furniture under cushions, under furniture, recliners especially, beside car seats, under car seats, between car seats and the center console, in jacket pockets, laundry hamper, in pants that have been washed but not worn again, any horizontal surface near the laundry where it may have been set aside. Top of shelves, bottom of drawers, any place you might have set it down for a moment.

Hope you find it. I have not lost any knives since I started collecting them a couple of years ago. The only knives that I once owned or received as hand-me-downs but that are gone forever are from when I was a kid and didn't really care about them.

I've got every knife or multitool that I ever bought or received since the 1970s (not counting those I sold or gifted) except for an original Leatherman PST tool that was a Christmas gift from my father. That one I lost while on a remote job site for a former employer about 10 years ago. One of those things where you get back to town and realize you left it in Texas at a construction site. Not a big deal except for it being a gift from my Dad, who passed away in 2000. Made me think of him every time I used it, and family Christmases. Good memories.

I lost a #15 sunbrite caplifter for a few days recently. It was driving me crazy trying to figure out how it could have happened!

Well...after a thorough mind meld with myself it came to me that my recent knife pocket change could have had something to do with it. I had switched to carrying it in my right front pocket because of a new gun holster I was using. So...I looked in my car, down in the black hole between the drivers seat and the transmission tunnel.:D:eek::thumbup::thumbup:.......There it was!!!!! If only I had glanced in there at night I might have seen it glowing!

I will never carry in that pocket again, from now on and ever more it's always: Pocket knife and cel phone in left front, keys and change in right front.

I'm actually thinking my daughter, who is 2, grabbed it off the chest of drawers. She has been throwing things away lately and I am really hoping this has not been the fate of the 33. I'm going to give the whole house a turn over when ever I have the time.

EDIT:
Misread the post Clutch. :D Glad you found it

Lost my William henry back in June when I moved. I feel your pain man. Loved that knife...

How about your better half? Did you ask her? You know how they are..... sometimes.

Edited to add......... Great looking knife by the way. Nice size for.....:D

LOL I laugh because my wife is a walking tornado of scatteredness and I love her for it. Her being pregnant has only increased the wind speed. :)
I asked her but no luck.

Edit:
Speaking of...I am needed to help brush the little one's teeth.
Thanks to all for the luck and suggestions.

yup and good luck with the seach. for some reason I stuck a 10" fixed blade in my t-shirt drawer underneath everything. I didn't really think I'd put it in there but I had looked everywhere. I didn't even look reached in there half hearted and got bit. But hey I found my $400 knife :o

Brett, I seem to recall you losing your 81 a while back. Is there a pattern here?

I actually got that one back. I was on my way to the airport and forgot I had it in my pocket. I gave it to my wife's uncle (he drove me to the airport) to mail and long story short he lost it, found it, and eventually mailed it. I just got it back yesterday thankfully. I love that knife. :)

Coat pocket? I so infrequently wear a coat that I often leave things in the pockets, hang the coat back up and then find the missing items months later when I pull the coat back out.

I had a nice Case XX that took me all summer long to trade for. I was working at an Eckerd's Drug Store installing a Coke Fountain. Put the knife down after I cut a piece of tubing. Turned around and it was gone. So maybe not lost in one sense, but I hope the Peckerwood who took it cut his fingers off with it.
