Here's To The Knives Lost - WINNERS ANNOUNCED in POST #1

I lost a knife for 5 years once. It turned up when I hired a housekeeper.

Now that is what I need.
We have four generations is this house so they would have their work cut out for them.
It'll turn up eventually. If not, I just hope someone finds it and uses it.

I have lost my share of knives. Several to thieves too.

I'd rather have one lost than stolen.

My normal places to find them are in the couch, under the couch. In the laundry, in suit pockets, in backpacks, in the car, and over at my folks place in their couches or easy chairs!

I had one knife I must have lost on a weekly basis. I would always find it. I found it in a snow bank once. Another time, I had lost it, and some one knocked on the apartment door. I did not know him, but he said "I think I found your knife. It was in the snow." I asked him how he knew it was mine, and he said he had seen it clipped to my pocket when I rode past him every day on my bike.

Poor clip design. But the thing was like a bad penny. Always came back!

Lost knives, yeps, it does happen. I lost a Buck Ranger over the side of a Coast Guard cutter in the gulf of Alaska while repairing some netting on the flight deck of the cutter I was stationed on. That one had some real dark ebony covers on it. Had a Solingen fixed blade that disappeared from my fishing creel while I was a young'un, turns out my brother stole it and traded it for some nonsense. The last one I lost was a Case Swayback Jack, sea green covers, lost on a beach about two years back while flying my stunt kites...I miss the Swayback...maybe time to look for a replacement :)

This hopefully found a new home on New Years:

Feel for ya

The first thing I remember losing was a plastic knife when I was five. Also remember saving my money and buying an amazing sak only to have it stolen. I leave my sentimental knives in the case and carry ones that are replaceable so I can buy my way out of losing them. Trouble is the knives I carry become sentimental.

With all the knives people have lost on BF wouldn't you think we'd have found some too?

I usually find lost things right after buying its replacement. 😁

My post is a little different - lost and then found - but I thought I'd share it anyway. I lost a Case tiny trapper this winter, looked everywhere, no joy. Then I was shoveling the end of the driveway after a 10" snowfall, and there it was, buried in the snow. A little scratched, but stainless, so really no worse for the wear. It really was like finding a needle in a haystack. If I would've been using my snowblower I never would have seen it. Incredible luck.

When I was a teenager many years ago, I had a handful of decent folding and fixed blade knives that I kept in a brown paper sack in my room. My parents badgered me one day to clean my room, and being the emotional adolescent that I was at the time, I went into a frenzy and cleaned it up. In my fervor, I must have thrown out the bag with the knives.

I only discovered it long after. I always regret that moment to this day.

Ouch, I bet. That would have been a treasure as both a boy and a grown man to hold on to.

Sorry to hear of your loss Brett !

Primble's Kentucky Remedy:

Walk around your house while rubbing your tummy and tug on your left ear, while, at the same time, lifting your right leg. Stand on that one leg for thirty seconds.

Now - blink your eyes intentionally 23 times.

Now tap on the top of your head while going through every winter coat pocket.

If not found, try standing on your head for two minutes, then go look through any and all pockets of winter pullover tops, which might have pockets. ;)

If you ever wear a barn coat, it is in the right pocket. ;)

If still not found, put a Barlow knife in the freezer for thirty minutes.

Drop the freezing cold knife in your under drawers, and, while hopping around, put half a lemon in your mouth and chew vigorously !

That ought to do it ! ;):eek::D

Good luck !

Sorry about that lost knife, Brett.
If you follow Primble's advice, pictures are mandatory! :D

:):):)

Great suggestion!! I'll let you know if it works. ;):p

I'll make sure to put it all on youtube. :D

Sorry to hear of the loss of your knife, Brett! I just know it will turn up in some odd place. I have many times "hidden" a knife from myself only to find it days later. It will turn up my friend.

Brett - I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Almost sounds like a bereavement card.......it will show up, if it is ment to be. I lost a set of truck keys once for 6 months. I looked everywhere. It wasn't until I needed my old pair of bib overalls that hang next to the washer for extea dirty jobs (few times a year) that I reached into front pocket and there they were. If it's ment to be Brett.......

I think I will start thinking like Gev. It is only "hidden" for the time being.

Rockon, yeah I kinda laid it on thick. :) I hadn't the time to get attached to it, but I know some on here have lost knives they could consider an attachment of themselves. I wanted there to be a chance for those to share. For example, Glennbad's brown bag of boyhood knives. That one still has me thinking.

I hope you find your knife Brett, we know how you feel buddy.

Primble, could you do a "training" video for us.......it is easier to learn by example as I'm sure there are a lot of subtle nuances in your routine that might get overlooked. :barf::D

All my childhood knives were confiscated by mom after I was taken to the emergency room for six stitches in my thumb. I seem to recall it was a small case fixed blade that bit me when I was doing something dumb. My mom, to this day, doesn't know where she put my small collection.
Try looking up for your lost knife. I put stuff on top of the frig, cabinets, etc to keep it away from my daughters curious hands. Hope you find your knife.

Ouch, I hope you find it soon Brett. Those #33s are really great knives!! A stag version with bail (a gift from a friend, thanks again!!) is pretty much THE knife I carry when I'm not home.

As for lost knives, nothing major. Just knives that slipped out of my pocket into the couch or computer chair. Here's hoping it's that simple for you :)

When A.G, Russell came out with their large ACIES a few years ago now [3?] I lost it less than two weeks or so afterwards. I was sure it was in my truck but did not find it. The clip on it was so tight I still cannot imagine how it fell or was pushed off my right rear Wranglers pocket. And I did NOT like it clipped there anyways, nor anywhere else I tried in that short two week period. When I replaced it with their smaller ACIES I just carried in my right front pocket like any other pocketknife. And after a lot of use I did not like that style of knife anyways. There went six hundred dollars in edgeumacation , which is always expensive no matter how you get it !!! A good solid STOCKMAN pocketknife cannot be beat afterall and I never lost a single one of the hundreds I own.
On August 4, 2014 I had to buy a new truck and the saleslady cleaning out the old truck found the missing ACIES right where I'd looked a dozen times before. It still looked brand new and after hauling it home I tossed in into the Machinest Chest with all the rest of the artifacs of my life and called it a day. It took me all of that six hundred bux for the two ACIES' to realize I did NOT like that style of knife in any way, fashion, or form. Should have known as much as I did NOT like a Sebenza either.
And so it goes...
