Here's To The Knives Lost - WINNERS ANNOUNCED in POST #1

It is great to hear you were helped out, that sort of thing really raises the spirits.

I'm not "in" but I wanted to say I just recently lost a knife myself...which is very unlike me. I don't think I've ever "lost" a knife before, I can't imagine how or where it could have fallen from my pocket. I had been wanting to replace it with one a little better (it was an old SAK) for some time now.

I, like many here have more than enough knives, I decided around two yrs ago I was done with buying knives I don't need, and a new knife would only come when an old one went. Strange thing is I really miss that old knife...I have reason for a new one but keep holding off hoping I'll find the old one still.

Great acts of generosity guys :)

I'm still sore about losing a knife 45 years ago! :D

I've actually had a beer with Rockgolfer and he is a stand up guy. Looking forward to doing that again with him and other members here.

Thank you for the opportunity. Here's to "Rockgolfer and Rockon Rock" .

I've only lost one knife in my life, a chestnut bone CV peanut. Didn't realize it was gone through a hole in my pocket until after a five mile hike. Sadly, the parks here ban metal detectors, and every so often I walk that trail. It's no doubt gone, but I still hope. A member here was kind enough to replace it, and I've paid it forward when my dad lost his favorite carry knife of 20 years.

Love this community, Rockgolfer and Rockon Rock, and the whole crew.

More than 50 years ago, I lost my Imperial Scout knife in drifts of fall leaves while playing mumbledy-peg (yeah, dumb, I know) in a city park. I flicked it at the ground, and it just vanished into the leaves. I thought I'd be able to find it quickly by shuffling through them where I saw it go. Nope. An hour later, as it was getting dark, I had dirty hands and the realization that it was gone, even though I could scarcely believe it. Part of me thinks there's still a totally rusted four-blade Boy Scout knife out there in that park.

A year or so ago, I decided it was time to get this:

It's in better shape than my old one was by the time it disappeared. So I guess that while many lost-knife stories end with the knife gone for good — there are remedies of sorts.

Brett,

I don't participate on here nearly as much as I want to.....and far less than I should to be considered.

But I continue to be astonished at the generosity of this forum! It seems that every time I log in here, someone is continuing the generosity to someone else. I really cant believe that this many people share in the love of pocket knives and wish to share that love with .......... essentially strangers.

Rockgolfer and Rockon Rock ........... as do many of the people on this forum.

Brett, that both the 33 and that S&M (I believe) look awesome.....wonderful surprises i'm sure.

Thanks,

Jim

My grandfather had a 34OT that I currently have. I don't recall him carrying it, but its one of my many favorites of his knives.

When I was in college.......I bought a 34OT Chinese made from Wal-Mart because it reminded me of him. At the time, I didn't know about the online knife world.......so didn't realize I could have fairly easily picked one up from the net, even a USA made one.

In the years since, somewhere along the way I lost that knife. Now I have grandpa's 34OT, but I still miss my cheap Chinese made version.

Just a few months back picked up a USA made 34OT at an pawn shop. I love that its the vintage type and USA made.........but something still lingers about that ole cheap walmart knife I lost.

Stupid.......I know. haha.

Rockgolfer and Rockon Rock !!! Awesome story Brett & just another sign of the great & very generous folks that grace this forum. Thanks.

I've lost some knives but I've always found them. Went looking for an old craftsman stockman that I got when I was a kid. I think my grandpa bought it for me when we stopped at a hardware store. I couldn't find it, went to my parent's and dug through some old misc stuff in my old bedroom and still couldn't find it. About a week later I looked in a spot I swear I checked 5 times and low and behold, there it was! I made sure to put it right back so that it doesn't show up "missing" again.

You'll find it someday, and if not, great friends gave you some replacements. That's awesome.

Rock golfer and Rock Rockon Rock!

Not an entry, but I'll also attest that Rockgolfer and Rockon (and mystery knife GAWs) Rock!!:thumbup:

Great thread, Brett, and great story about lost knives and rockin' friends. I should be getting used to stories like this around here, since I can read something similar practically every day (and have experienced similar things myself several times :D) But those stories are just as cool and "countercultural" to me now as they were when I first started lurking here about a year ago.:cool:

(Does your daughter have a special "storage" or "hiding" spot? That's where I'd be looking. :p When my daughter was still VERY young, she had already decided that "special" stuff would go in the drawer under her socks!)

I recall more than a beer and a mishap with pizza;)
Great gestures by both. That's what make this place so wonderful. Brett, your one of the good guys too, kinda easy to see that.

Not an entry please. On that night that Todd mentioned Jeff, rockgolfer, gifted me an amazing #47 GEC.

What a great thread! That's very kind of them to gift you knives to ease your loss.
