HEST Folder Warranty -Your Thoughts

As a side note, we are setting up a dealer of ours as a basic repair center for the folder. They will re-sharpen the knife (for a small fee), clean it up, replace clips, missing screws, etc. All of this is coming together, but again, we want to physically lay hands on this prototype, tear it apart, put it back together, beat the shit out of it, try to wear the lock out, etc to know what we're dealing with before w make a written stated warranty. This is our first rodeo when it comes to folders so we have to learn for ourselves before stating something.

Good Call !

someone mentioned Zippos warranty. been around forever. made in the usa. I like this way of thinking. as the dpx hest fixed blade has the same warranty as esee fixed blades. so to me saying that the folder has to be different because its dpx, not esee. does not make sense to me.

No one has said that.

Guys, settle down. I can assure you the warranty will be more than fair and available to everyone soon.

Now, if someone reassembles it without knowing what they're doing and can't get it back together, crushes a bearing washer, strips a screw, etc. then do you feel that is our fault and we should be responsible?
I got a one word answer for that...........

"NO" ..........

:D

I don't think warranties should be limited to original purchaser. Also, I think sharpening should be free. Shipping costs to be borne by the purchaser unless the knife was bought new/mint and the edge was dull (that is a QC issue).

i think it unreasonable to expect the same warranty on a folder as on a fixed blade.

i trust the warranty and services will be more than fair.

im on board with this..for the simple fact its different wear and tear, different use all together from a folder to a fixed blade in my exp.

it wasnt just your guys badass knives that made me pick ESEE it was also the warranty and how you stand behind your products no matter what..but overall no matter what you guys decide im more then positive this warranty will be kickass and fair to every honest and loyal ESEE customer...

Sharpening is free...if you do it yourself.
Maybe the ESEE folks should cut stuff for us as well; it's unfair to have to expend all that energy, right?

Ain't that the truth! Not bitching but I figure anyone who owns a knife ought to learn how to sharpen it.

"If you think you've been wronged, we'll make it right." *+*

I like the concept of lifetime warranties and all, but quite frankly, the concept of expecting you guys to stock parts for 50+ years is unreasonable. As is me keeping the knife in a box, giving it to my grand kids and then them in 2047 pulling it out and saying that the screw is stripped.

If you look at the great "warranties" in the world, (LL Bean comes to mind, they all hinge on the fact that the customer 99 times out of 100 feels that they got their money's worth when the item fails. It's when it fails out of the box, or when you have not abused (or better yet pushed) it that makes us mad. We pay good money and we expect a good product.

You guys have been above board, acknowledging that all heat treats are not perfect and that issues crop up. You guys also are known for siding with the customer if there is any issue of doubt. So, I say, keep what you are doing and make the warranty- "If you think you've been wronged, we'll make it right."

*+* That's a trademarked phrase that I'll gladly trade for an Izula or an RC-3
(hint hint)

Was there ever an issue?

I haven't read the other post yet, but honestly to me? A 30 day warranty nqa but if the thing comes in looking trashed to hell, of intentional abuse, NOT COVERED than, but the moving parts aside, simply cause I just got a crkt folder last weekend and it died from opening tons and tons of boxes, containing car parts. I know your blades will be top notch, but maybe the blade itself could carry a lengthly warranty? If misc items need to be replaced, maybe you guys can have a cache of replacement parts on hand?

Besides that, I wouldn't expect a nqa full on warranty, a folder will wear down because of moving parts, its that simple. When I do bikes, cars, trucks for customers, I don't offer warranty on their wear and such. HOWEVER, I do warranty my work such as welds, and the functionality of parts, to make sure they'll last. Though with all normal wear and tare, there comes the part of knowing some stuff will have to be replaced, from bushings to brake pads, but hey; nothing extensive or unexpected. Could you guys possible offer a FULL handle length, but shorter blade version for CA legal carry? I don't mind a slightly smaller blade, but my hand does trail off some knives. I was going to ask this of the izula, I am not clear yet cause I haven't checked the laws to carry a fixed blade like the izula when one is out doing their activities.

But thats my two cents. I know when I buy the folder if something breaks and it wasn't my fault, an impossible defect, you'd have me covered, as everyone else. So I am not worried. You guys always do right by us, and I am a happy camper. I have yet to send in a broken blade for your NQA warranty lol. Cause hell, if its my fault, I'll just buy a new one.

Have a good one guys!
