This is my fat ash with the reflection of my fat warden in the blade. Boredom has struck this evening, I thought I might hand polish my fat ash. I know someone has something shinier. Let's see it

Here it is putting in work, so it isn't a safe queen, just a queen... After I convexed the edge it chops like a dream, and it doesn't look too shabby either.

If they're satin leave em. Otherwise a very very fine grit sandpaper, then diamond polishing or lapping compound works. 6, 3, 1 micron respectively.

Not quite mirror finish yet....

Gamma alumina liquid compound works well on a polishing lap, but you definitely have to be down to 3 micron or so before stepping into it. Worked well in the lab for metallography.

Well, a survival knife that doubles as a mirror is less likely to break, especially if it is a Busse! :D Might have to be either flat or saber grind for that to work properly though. ;)

Tim, I've had the best luck with full flat grinds. I tend to polish them first

Is there a mirror polished one in existence?

Not mine but I wish they were. There is an Australian member, Tinbasher, who did some beautiful mirror mods.
He is still here but I don't know if he is still modding. Do a search and find some more of his fantastic stuff.

Wow that's insane --- I need to learn how to get these kind of results.
