Himalayan Imports 15" Boomerang Free Passaround Raffle

I'll tack you on the end then. Chances are it will still be circulating. If not I'll pick somebody then:thumbup:

Sounds good, thanks HD. Hopefully I will be back before it's over to get a chance to try it out. If I am not back in time I fully understand taking someone else.

Gonna try this:

Well guys it's my first time reviewing and I'm sorry that the pics are crappy, but here it goes.
When I first got it in, I could feel the quality. I took it out of its sheath and swung it in the air a couple times, I really liked its weight, seemed sturdy enough.
Well I decided that it was time to take it out to the woods. Did I mention I have a wilderness in my back yard?!
Then I had to pick what gear to bring. I decided that I would bring along a Bic along with the fire steel, to go with the cutlery( pics provided.)
Well I decided to see if the boomerang could take on a tree.

Well, I think that it did a pretty good job!

What do you think?

Then I just decided to take some photos of the family that went along.

I think that they all look good togather. :p:thumbup:

Well it was getting dark and I decided that it better be time to head back in, but not after one last test. Lets see do you think that the boomerang can make it into a thick piece of wood after one try?

Well finally a picture of my wilderness,

Finally one last gear shot!

All in all, this is a great knife. It has some good weight to it, is strong, sharp, and inexpensive. Hell if I don't win this one in the raffle, I might have to pick one up myself!

Also, last but not least. Thanks for the opportunity hollowdweller. I appreciate it!

Since Skyler is on a trip we're moving him to the end in hopes he will be back before the end of his run.

Cshepherd is therefore up next and I sent his addy to Ace so we should be good to go

Cool. But nobody feel a lot of pressure to send it on without truly enjoying it. We're not running a race so feel good:thumbup::cool:

Got the knife yesterday. Wow, it's nice to finally handle a well made Kukri. I have one I picked up to modify years ago but it's quite rough. This one is very nice.

Initial impressions, it's fairly sharp considering the use it's had. The finish has held up extremely well, again considering the use. The sheath is much better than most of them I've seen. I'll get it out this weekend and do some work with it but I expect my review to be much the same. The handle feels good in the hand. I have a bit smaller than normal hands and it still fits pretty good.

My only concern is that it is a bit of a heavy kukri and therefore wouldn't be my first choice to carry all the time in the woods but I bet it's going to chop very well.

I'll post some pics as well later.

That's one of the things about full tang khuks. It adds a lot of weight.

ilbruche,

YES! YES! YES!

That is beautiful and I think the baldric type carry would be great for a knife of this size and weight.

Gonna get out this weekend and cut some things down with it to see what I think.

How is this coming along?

I currently have the Kukri. I have done some chopping with it am quite impressed. I plan on abusing it some this weekend, will take some pics, then will send it on to the next person.

I have found one complaint, and only one. I get a rub spot on my hand when chopping where the handle curves up. The point seems to hit just right that it wouldn't take me long to have a blister. If I wer to buy it (or win it as the case may be) I would have to round that off a good bit. Otherwise I really like this one. I was chopping cleanly through 1" branches with almost no hesitation. I then took 2 foot long sections of those branches and cut through them after tossing them in the air. Impressive.

Charlie

Yeah, the bell shaped end, at the butt of the handle. I'll take some pics as I use it this weekend and post those.

I tried it chopping some very hard, very dry wood that's been laying around for almost a year. It did reall well.
