Don't forget your local swap meets. Not every criminal has caught onto the Ebay bug.

Plus the pleasure of actually seeng the idiot in person :) priceless.

& Craig's List. It's worth checking this site also.

Wow, sorry to hear, leatherman, and if I see any of these, I'll most certainly be in touch ASAP. I hope that you recover them, and quickly at that.

I cant thank y'all enough for the good words of encouragement! :D

As far as USPS insurance goes it doesnt do me much good as the sheaths are a product that I make. Theres no basis for them to go by for how much each sheath is worth so its a moot point, words from the postal inspector. Custom made items suffer more than any other loss with USPS.

Why does the post office get to determine what your sheaths are worth? Aren't you the maker? Shouldn't you determine what they're worth?

So does this mean everyone who makes, or manufacters something shouldnt buy insurance when they ship a package?

So basically, you didn't buy any insurance on your package, because the post office can't determine what they are worth, and now you're wanting us to look for "someone" selling black sheaths. What a can of worms this is.

You should've bought insurance.

I am hoping its a postal office fubar and that they will show up. It would be nice to be able to believe in the goodness of our fellow people. Then again look at our politicians.

I'll be on the lookout in the European region.

Hope all comes to a good end soon:thumbup:

A couple of years back a lady post office worker here was caught stealing packages out the back door. She turned out to be the mother a local Judge. Never heard what happened with that....Hmmm
Hope they just misplaced them.
Good luck!

with friends like you and knife hunter who needs enemies.

Did I say I didnt get insurance? You dont really know whats going on, please refrain from making off assumptions.

Insurance in general isnt in the business of paying, its in the business of selling policies, and thus will search for every reason not to pay off. No matter what value I put on the package the burden of proof is on me to provide concrete proof of what I paid for it, not what value I put on it. They will pay me for materials, not labor, if they pay me at all. This can and probably will take a few months.

Did I tell anyone not to buy insurance?????

You seem to be bringing a lot of words to the table.

Knife Hunter: I insure EVERYTHING that belongs to someone else, including that last package with your knife, you Assume too much. Losing 1000.00 worth of sheaths is the cost of doing business???? Good grief.

Unbelievable

Please don't hijack this thread with stories you know little about. Theft of the mails is a Federal offense and no local judge has any influence on the proceedings.

Let them slide back into the mud, brother.
You've got plenty of real friends around here and you know it.

Your right my friend, I should not have let it get under my skin.

Being slightly stressed about losing a house payment can make a fella a little edgy. :o

Hey leatherman, There is a gun show in SA this weekend. It is a small one, but may be worth the fee to run by and check to see if anyone is trying to sell your sheaths.

I can't imagine what market they would have, however, without knowing what knife they match.

Sorry again for all the time an effort you put into your art just to have it taken away. You have a real gift for leatherwork. Keep your head up!

Unbelievable

Oh, you did get insurance then? I didn't see where you stated that. And if I were making assumptions, I would have said something like: this sounds like a story some people would use to buy time if they were backordered on sheaths. I didn't state this, so I wasn't assuming anything.

Maybe you can get your "real friends" to front you money for you lost sheaths, and then after you file a claim with the post office and get your money back, you can pay them back. Just an idea.

Not very cool to question Leatherman's integrity like that HRkelly. He doesn't have to "buy time" for his customers or invent stories. His customers know that he constantly operates under a backorder due to the quality and demand for his work.

I'm not understanding the hostility.

I can't imagine anything more time consuming, bureaucratic, and frustrating than dealing with the post office on an insurance issue.

I didn't question anything except if he bought insurance. He didn't state it in the op.

Sorry to hear about the loss Dwayne. I'm with you on the fact that I insure every knife that goes out, but I still worry every time a package leaves my hand. Luckily I haven't had any issues so far other than some misdirection and one personal package that was delivered empty and haven't had to test my insured values.

Hopefully it's just a misplacement and they'll turn up soon. I had a package sit at a UPS hub for weeks before they noticed it, so it can happen.

As for the dramatics, there's always a couple and like Esav said, they'll slide back under the mud on their own. Though giving them a push is sometimes a little satisfying ;).

What Esav said. Show a little class. And if you want to make an accusation, have the gonads to do it out in the open rather than veil it in hypotheticals.

Dwayne, would it help if people knew the destination? Were these headed to BCS?

Where's the love y'all? Where's the love!!?

I was assuming these were for BCS as well. Dwayne...do you know where en route the package was last accounted for?

Don't mean to hijack this thread with some positivity but... Dwayne I just received my sheath for my NMSFNO and its fantastic! Thanks for producing such a wonderful product and lots of luck getting this mess sorted out.

Hogs, please welcome hotrodkelley as the FIRST member to be added to my ignore list. Considering who I've had disagreements with in the past this is a very lofty achievement indeed! :D
