Yes, they were headed for the BCS. I dont yet know how far they made it, but I'm not willing to assume anything right now. I've got a feeling that its caught in some machine at one of the drop locations, mangled beyond recognition, and hidden in the broom closet by the worker who went out for a smoke during work time.

1) The post office has lost a package....
2) Hopefully the scumbag that got them will try to sell them on the Internet...
3) I wish kharma upon the lowlife who stole the package...
4) if they turn up, however unlikely

Was it not me that sent you a prepayment for my sheaths, $700, back around the middle of December-first of January because you said ....how hard things have been and people werent paying?

Wasnt it me that let another member here send you my user Ruck that I bought from them in January for you to use to make sheaths from that you kept for 4 months?

It was me that never bugged you once about my sheaths, but I had to practically beg to get half the order in time for Knob Creek..... so I could show em off for both our sakes. Never did I complain.

Then after KC still after I never bugged you once . You sent me an email telling me how Id get my stuff when ever you could.....They'd have to wait cause you had sheaths to make for others

I guess since you already had my money I got put to the back of the line. I'm glad I was able to bank roll your other orders

All your talk of losing everything concerned me... so I asked to get the Ruck, that had a sheath, back. Still, not worrying about the sheaths.

I let you borrow and use my Ruck for 4 months to make sheaths like the ones you just listed and sold

I hate to see all the back and forth drama here, and it's a shame it came to that, but I'll throw in my own two cents, while pretending like that crap didn't happen....

Ever hear of "Heinlein's Razor"? It's a statement that says...

In my experience, any sufficiently large organization, including things like the post office, is going to be chock-full of incompetent morons. Considering all of the very expensive, easy to identify things that get shipped every day, I would be pretty surprised if someone outright stole a box full of sheaths with intentions of re-selling them

Now, that's not to say there definitely wasn't greed involved - they could have fallen off a truck, or gotten delivered to the wrong address, and been kept, or someone could very well have outright stolen them. But in my experience with ANY package delivery service, it's far more likely that they are sitting in a warehouse or office somewhere waiting for someone with a clue to figure out that they aren't supposed to be there.

Here's hoping that is the case and your sheaths are simply lost, and get returned soon. No matter how it happens, it sucks that the package went missing and I wish you the best in the whole situation.

Yeah, the box is more likely lost than stolen, but LM has the most info about it. My ratio of lost USPS packages sounds higher than his.

Question: why is USPS so popular with the HOG family? Seems to be the preferred carrier for the company store, trades, etc. Personally, I think USPS sucks, for many of the reasons listed above. Are the other carriers just too expensive? I have never had UPS or FedEx lose a package on me....

For me and many others who leave for work at 5AM and return home anywhere bewteen 7pm and 10 pm m-f, the USPS is usually just a short drive from home on a saturday. Or if we happen to get out of work a tad earlier, it can be picked up easily.
If it comes Big Brown or FedUP and I am not home, it means a 22 mile drive to the Big Brown hub and a 34 mile drive to the FedUp hub. Even a note at the door to Big Brown or FedUp and a lockable large parcel box (drop parcel in big box bolted into concrete and driver padlock it with supplied lock) doesn't work.

And for my personal opinion of each company:
I restore old bridge lamps as a hobby. FedUp has destroyed every single lamp (6) that has been shipped here. Not one made it. Crushed (And i mean like a truck ran it over not just once but several times) and/or forklift blades thru each of them. I even started having senders dismantle the lamps and send them in regular square boxes and they still get crushed.
Big Brown is a close second to this carnage.
USPS has never delivered me a broken lamp whether it shipped fully or partially assembled.

We are busy getting prepped for BLADE '09. . . and we're getting along better than you "sleepers". . .that's the name given to those who get to sleep!!! . . .

So, I recommend that you all quit sleeping and start drinking!!!!. . . It's working for us!!!! :thumbup:

I'm starting to regret starting this thread.

The only thing I asked for was help looking out for lost product, not criticism of my business ethic or shipping practices. Its simply a heads up, nothing more.

I'm sorry that this brought out the worst in some, and the ugly in others, but most importantly it brought out the sense of community that I really embrace here I cant thank those of you with good words enough, just a "Its gonna get better" is enough for me.
