How do you like your Lionsteel M7? Just picked one up....I'm a carpenter by trade and love utility and building things so;
SAK; for a small blade and it's additional tools.
Small - medium sized knife with a scandi grind; for smaller work, currently an Enzo trapper (Elmax).
Larger knife - for batoning, processing and larger work - currently a Lionsteel M7.
Although I'd also wish to carry an axe and folding saw which would negate the larger blade/knife.
Personally it's a great knife, I've no problem with a steel that requires a little looking after, and find sleipner a great all round steel.How do you like your Lionsteel M7? Just picked one up....
Awesome, thanks for that input! I was initially a bit hesitant b/c I wasnt sure how tough the Sleipner steel would be but all the research I've done seems to show that it's certainly tough enough for hard use. Agreed?Personally it's a great knife, I've no problem with a steel that requires a little looking after, and find sleipner a great all round steel.
Handle ergonomics are up there with the best so it's a great chopper/batoning knife.
I'd use a smaller knife normally for finer work but the large finger choil on the M7 gives it surprisingly good control if you don't mind the weight.
So for me personally the M7 is a great knife, although we don't have quite the choice here in the UK as the US but for the price I've definitely got no complaints.
I don't seem to be able to find the PM on my mobile version of BF.Awesome, thanks for that input! I was initially a bit hesitant b/c I wasnt sure how tough the Sleipner steel would be but all the research I've done seems to show that it's certainly tough enough for hard use. Agreed?
How'd you like the sheath, and how durable did you feel the handle was? Feel free to PM me for further discussion!
Thanks! I think you can't PM b/c you aren't a paid member. Only other thing would be to post on my profile page. Would love to hear your opinion on the M7 sheath and that oughta answer all my questions! Thank you sir and sorry to clog the thread up a bit.I don't seem to be able to find the PM on my mobile version of BF.
Sleipner is an 8% cr die/tool steel, its a tough steel with the correct HT, although I've been unable to find any tests on its toughness (Impact, lateral strength etc...). I don't abuse my knives but will use them hard and the LS sleipner is excellent re toughness.
The handle on the M7 is very ergonomic and thus far has been extremely durable.
