Hah, You're telling me. This one is #3 so I hope it goes fast. It could also be a really bad case of false labor. While I wait to find out ... I'm getting a beer and making a fire in the backyard. Not much else I can do!

So the boy is turning 4 on Tuesday. Today we decided to take him up north for a bit of a "Birthday Day". Because he is my first born son I have no problem spoiling him for his birthday.

We started with breakfast and getting dressed. We then started loading the car up for a day of fun and went and picked up my father in-law. We then went up north....

Now that the snow is all gone I figured I'd take a picture of the Duce and a Half before we get her rolling this summer. I included the BK2 for some Becker content. Saw a few of these in BeardedNemophilist's thread.

We then hooked up the 6.5hp pump and let the boy play "fire man" with the huge hose

After which it was time for his present from my Brother in-law. He finished making a custom dune buggy out of a go-kart chassis. He stretched the frame both ways by about 9 inches. Gave it some awesome huge wheels and customized the entire thing for him. Needless to say the boy was ecstatic.

I was following him on a 250cc dirt bike while he was tearing up the mowed 10 acres on the front of the land. For his first time driving he was doing awesome! After he had enough of that he wanted to go for a short ride with me on the dirt bike.

Then it was time to put some hard work and training into practice! My .22 (Remington 597 outfitted in Archangle) and his .22 (Savage JR)

We have been training safety since he was 2 and this was the first he was able to shoot a real gun. His first shot (beginners luck) he smoked the resetting targets. After that he wanted a greater challenge and wasn't able to hit the further targets.

After putting some rounds down range he asked if he could try mine. He wasn't strong enough to steady it, so I gave him a hand. He loved it lol.

He started to get a little tired and wanted to go for a ride in a 4 wheeler through the bush. He loves off roading and the brother has a little Suzuki Tracker that he has modded up nice.

Drove him through the swamp a few times and then he stared to get tired.

We ended up leaving shortly after and got him some ice cream on the way home. After finishing his ice cream he passed right out for the last hour of the drive home lol. Now he's in the bath getting ready for an early bed time because he is beyond tired lol!

So, my birthday is July 10th... I can bring my own. 22...

Got back about an hour ago from seeing the cabin. It's pretty cool, at least to me it is, but it does need a little work. Mostly painting, and of course, the yard needs cleaned up big time. It overlooks the river valley, and you can see some rock outcroppings, but the some of the trees/brush need cleaned up to make it easier to see. Apparently, the couple that own it are in their 80's, and can't really use it anymore. I knew it was small, but damn, I didn't realize how small it is. It's maybe 10 feet long, by 8 feet wide, haha. No joke. Has a decent size sleeping loft. I've slept in smaller ones. Most of the wood looks new, and is in good shape. The cabin, and outbuilding have metal on the sides, and metal roofs, which is good. The gables on the ends of the cabin aren't in bad shape, but need painted. It looks like a branch may have fell out, and dented the gutter. The gutters collect water in a tank. Another thing I like, is the seclusion. It's on probably a quarter mile long lane, twisting and winding, then there's a locked gate, and only two cabins back there. I got to it in the wife's car, but it was a bumpy ride. Anywhos, we liked it, and I made an offer. Said I should hear back within a few days. I'll post a few photos later on.

Haha, I hear ya. We talked about that today as well. When the weather is cooler, we could always pitch a tent.

Pretty sure if I got that property I'd be pitching a tent too!

I've never had a problem, used to go to Canada quite a bit. Mind you I never actually declared what all I had in the car.

I'm getting a little homesick now... I decided to settle down in Texas when I retired from the Army, but grew up in that area. My folks still have a house on 12 acres near the town of Oermann (named after my great-grand uncle), which is just south of Dittmer on Highway 30. My maternal grandparents lived in Herculaneum, and I believe my mom was born in Desoto. It seems that St Louis creeps closer to home every time I go back to visit. The big thing I miss (every once in a while) is the four distinct seasons. Here in Texas, we mostly have two seasons (hot and cold), with a pretty short transition between them.
