Got my Satin FFG black/tan Ratmandu in the mail yesterday. Woot! It's sitting in warm coffee and apple cider vinegar as we speak.

No snake yet. Time to get creative.

Not sure if you guys that want to lose weight need any advise but 3 things that have helped me immensely are:
1. www.iifym.com specifically the tdee calculator. Lets you know what macros / total daily energy expenditure you need to lose weight.
2. myfitnesspal app on iPhone. Got to be the most comprehensive list of food I've ever seen. (going to need a scale to weigh the food as well. No guessing)
3. Signing up for the weight loss challenges on bodybuilding.com. If you can get over the large % of D-bags there are some really nice helpful people on there.

Losing weight is 95% in the kitchen.

I used this platform and still do. Burn more than you consume, and you'll see results. But you have to take honest stock of what's going in. Just logged my coffee cake.

Guyon reads graphic pony romance novels.

Occasionally I'll venture into unicorns.

Speaking of venturing, if you venture anywhere remote, put some contractor grade trash bags in your pack. Even better if they're brightly colored. Bags were one of the few pieces of issued gear at the RAT survival class, and we used them for shelter, for ground cover, and for signaling. They can also be used for water collection, as ponchos, etc.

My neighbor bought a bunch of the heavy duty 3 mil orange ones and gave me a couple a while back. I went over yesterday and bought a dozen more from him.

Do you want ants? Because this is how you get ants!

I hit my heaviest last June/July, I have been moving and lifting 5-6 days a week since last August. Trying to get serious about food this month so I can break this 2 month plateau I have been on.

Keep it up! If I can make changes, anyone can ;)

 Thats one thing i keep in my kits. Hell i prefer them over mylar space blankets for an emergency blanket or anything else.. The space blankets rip apart too easy and make a lot of noise... Use the large trash bags and slip it inside your sleeping bag and 1 as a poncho and you will sweat to death laying in the snow LMAO... Just using 2 bags together makes a great improvised sleeping bag in a bind. Bags come in handy for so much stuff. We used them in one class/seminar to make insulation in a shelter, using moss and leaves inside the bags... They dont take much room or add much weight either. A good add.

Chameleon are you Deaf? Our family has recently been integrated into the Deaf community, my youngest son (1.5 years old) was born Deaf. We have absolutely loved getting to know the culture and getting our family involved in the community! We have been learning ASL for about a year now, never thought I could learn another language!
I am not deaf, I work as an interpreter though. I've been signing since I was about 3 years old (29 years) I have to wholeheartedly agree about the culture. It's so much fun isn't it? I love how expressive the language is too. It's just a lot of fun.

I'm fairly amazed how many people here have ties to deafness and the deaf community. It makes me feel kind of right at home. :D

Since you asked. I didnt even have to post them. I took three knives with me to sell while I was on vacation the week after blade. What I didnt expect was I got hit with emails and PM's the whole week on what I had left. Pretty much everything is gone. What I do have left I havnt gotten around to posting.

What I have left.

2 M-18's

2 of the clipped Yuma's (the knife with no name)

1 regular Yuma in 5/32 stock, pink and tan G10 handle

Thats it! Thats all the stock I have.
I'm really surprised that you have any of those Clumas left. That clip is just sexy! Good to see you around these parts too, it's been a minute!

Any idea where he got those? That is actually a really good idea.

EDIT: Damn... 11 minute apart double post..? The forum has been doing funny stuff for me lately.

I knew you lost a lot of weight Guyon. I need to get on the stick and get busy. Those orange bags are cool.

This is a cool video:

Sound advice. We brought a hypothermic paddler around with a trash bag on his legs and one as a poncho. Don't leave home without them.

That kid was GETTIN' IT! Good lord I can't even swim that good. I guess that is what happens when you actually teach the kid the proper way to swim!

Anywhos, I know I'm overweight, but when I saw those photos, daaaaaamn was the word that came to mind.

I hear ya. I'm fairly tall so I can kinda stretch it out but still... 200-210# was about were I was most comfortable. (And all those people who say "the camera adds ten pounds" are just trying to BS themselves :p)

I need to jump on the move my fat ass challenge.

Me too. Having the garden is a good thing... the wife makes me eat a salad every day instead of another helping of pork or pasta. Cooking with fresh food is absolutely essential; that processed stuff will kill you. Even the stuff Angie cans has wayyy less salt and sugar than the crap in the store. We also do a lot of stuff like making dressing out of whipped low-fat cottage cheese instead of sour cream, etc. Cutting back on the sugars (especially beer, soda etc) is helping but there's still quite a ways to go. Of course eating two chickens and half a cow's worth of steak a couple times a month kinda blows all that out of the water :o

Been thinking about buying a cheap mountain bike... I always liked riding and as hilly as it is around here I could burn some calories real fast... as long as I don't ride to McDonald's and back :D

Hopefully, get things to some kind of normalcy this month.

I know what you mean, but it never really gets back to "normal".... there's always another project to deal with or some weird issue that pops up when all you wanna do is make knives. That's OK though, "normal" will drive a person bonkers even quicker.

So your Romance Novels take up most of your time? :D

Someone has to write 'em! You wouldn't believe how much they pay me for that drivel...

Right on! I miss Fleet Farm; whenever you bought something bulky they would put it in a huge blaze orange HD bag like that, and I always asked for an extra one. I suppose I could just break down and buy a carton of them...

Thanks for the PM Biscuit... I have it bookmarked, will be getting some of those soon.

James "fairly tall" is an understatement.

I liked weighing 225. Was in the best shape of my life then. I used to lift weights all the time, and I need to get started again.

I was at 215 about three months ago. Can't believe I've tacked on 30 lbs since. Gotta get back to it. Want to start gorging on salads rather than burgers.

Anyone know a good diet to lose and maintain weight? That's safe.

My brother used to do weight watchers and it seemed to work for him

Again, I hear ya brother. When I was 210# I was working outside 40 hours a week doing landscaping/trail maintenance and whatnot, lifting 3 nights a week, and going swimming maybe 2-3 times a week. I was eating like a horse but still in the best shape of my life. At 6'4" I wasn't what you'd call a big burly guy by any means, but I was stronger than I really needed to be and more importantly, I felt and slept great.

Turns out, eating the same but standing in front of a bench or sitting in front a computer all the time doesn't work quite as well :o

I don't believe in "diets" per se, and neither do most doctors (except the ones trying to sell you complicated "plans" and "miracle pills"). It's fairly simple really... Eat less crap. Eat more lean protein and a lot more veggies. Drink plenty water. Get up and move around. Lift something other than a fork on a regular basis.

Unless there are other medical issues, that pretty much always works.

I will also agree with this one

If you want an easy to follow diet the WW points system is about as easy as you can go. You can get the apps for your phone and track your food / points for the day. You can also tack on your activity points for some extra eats. The only learning curve you will have with the WW system is learning the points and getting used to logging what you have eaten for the day.
