Just keep buying up Buck's/China products, especially after the Chinese would not allow our sailors to dock in Hong Kong for Thanksgiving. Among many other things.
I looked at the pocket knife section of Buck's website. I found 38 pocket knives, guess how many were made in the U.S., (9).
As for the rest of you, all happy because you got your cheap china made tins. You make me wanna puke!!:jerkit:

What an amazing cause you've taken up. That will really leave a legacy after your 6 feet under. Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed or is the patient just suffering from cranial rectosis?:jerkit:

I'll buy Buck knives as long as their in business,in todays marketplace you gotta make decisions to stay afloat,I was dead set against it when they first made some pocket knives overseas i got one to try and proove my point, that it would be junk, well its not junk,it is in fact a one of the best overseas made knives i've had yet!Buck is doing the best at trying to offer everyone a product they can afford ,cudos to that!Merry Christmas bub!

Until big mouth starts using a made in the USA computer, he's nothing more than a sniveling hypocrite.

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

Buck doesn't hide the fact that some of their knives are made in China. Until China un-pegs its currency to the dollar they will always have an advantage. I do not care for the deceptive practices that have been used to confuse the buyer but Buck doesn't do this. My father in-law has one and he likes it well enough. It was a freebie from a friend. I am very happy with my two recent Buck purchases. I prefer to by US when possible and reasonable. That being said I have great knives from Germany, Taiwan and yes China.

I haven't bought a chines Buck and probably never will.

However, for you to get your panties in a wad since they won't let our ship stop in Hong Kong is pretty sad. It's their land now, they can make the rules. That goes with being in charge. I don't recall seeing many chinese ships docking in NY or LA (maybe it's happened and I missed it).

I wish Buck could have kept all the production here. However, it wasn't possible and that's business. Again, linked to being in charge of stuff, they get to make the rules.....

Many excellent USA knife companies such as Buck, Spyderco, and Emerson have gone to a lesser expensive line of knives made in China to survive in this world where most knife users buy cheap.

None of the knife companies I've noted hide this fact. I myself, buy their made in USA knives because I can afford it. The majority of the world's knife users never visit Blade Forum and they buy on price.

I have a Buck Ecco Model. I know its not made in the US, but not sure if China is the country of origin. When I broke the tip of the serrated blade, Buck replaced it. As long as they have a great warranty I am not going to give up on their knives.

Do i prefer knives made in the states, YES!, but SAK doesn't make any knives in the US, and I still buy them.

I agree with the others in this thread, if you want to boycott China, go right ahead! Just boycott everything from china not just your knife purchases...And let me know where you start buying stuff, because your big box retailers...well they like chinese products.
i say i have much in agreeme t with my estamed collage..
i gladly use made inchaina bucks .. i like the usa ones better and thoes i collect..
rather price point then no bucks at all...

Hey, my keyboard is made in Vietnam!!

My TV, monitor, RAM, hard Drive, speakers and Mouse are made in China.

Please, stop this nonsense, n ot everything is made in China.:D:p:D

I prefer to buy US but I understand that Buck has to do what it has to do to stay alive. I would rather see them having some knives made in China while maintianing a US based company than see them go the way of Schrade and Camillus.

It's a tough call. I wish we all could afford to buy only the best of everything but the reality is that people have to consider price and there will always be a market for cheaper stuff.

I worked very closely for a number years with a major American appliance manufacturer who is trying desperately to keep making their goods made in the US. The fact is that in the US the cost of materials, labor, marketing, transportation, insurance and utilites keeps going up every year and they they have to put their goods on the showroom floor next to all of the other manufacturers whose goods are made in China, India, and Mexico. The consumer will save a few bucks where they can. They often have to if they are going to make ends meet every month.

It sucks but it's the way it is.
