Glad ya got a hold of me when ya did. It’d sold at that horse deal we were at.
I'm glad also. Ever since I read your blog on "The Tapadero Story" years ago I knew I'd need one someday. That day has come. πŸ‘πŸ€  May have to call some of my old friends and see if they have any fall calves that need working 🀠

Finished this Pack Pac off Monday and got it shipped out.

Friday Saturday and Sunday just past were very busy days for us. All day horse stuff. Friday we met with some friends and worked our horses on some arena maneuvers. Then rode over and tied up[ the horse at a grill and had lunch. Saturday and Sunday were different clinics put on by the same guy and Nicole was entered in both. Saturday was a clinic on arena maneuvers and man she learned a lot. She and her young horse came a long ways. Sunday was all cattle work and the same deal they really learned a lot. As part of the proceedings I was setting up a table at lunchtime with some of Horsewright's wares. We'd been so busy that we hadn't had a chance yet to put the new batch of knives on the website. David echoscout echoscout had emailed me and I set aside the Sonoran Belt Knife mentioned and pictured above. Then we also sold these three:

A Cowboy with elk:

And a Cowboy with Osage Orange:

The Sonoran belt knife is my favorite pattern of yours, but that Rodeo is awesome too, is it mesquite or walnut? What are the specs for the Rodeo compared to the Bandito? I see the Bandito ion your site and got those specs, so the Rodeo looks like a longer blade. Any sized by side pics of the Rodeo to a Bandito? I just love the pics anyway. My thing is I need a good four finger grip.

Thanks. Well here's where the Rodeo went. Tanner is this year's NCHA (National Cutting Horse Assoc) Rookie of the Year. Congrats Tanner and that's a BIG deal btw for non horse folks.

He'd just put his new Rodeo on. That one was handled in Turkish Walnut from Butch Searcy as outlined in a trade above. Interesting deal. Tanner's uncle has one of Butch's rifles. Kinda rare in these parts. Thanks on the Osage Orange I have a pretty large stash of it. A fellow BF member from KS cut up a bunch and sent it to me. He even cut it into scales. This set of scales was from a couple of chunks sent to me by a customer. He's a Bowyer and sent me a couple of pieces he thought might look good on a knife. So had some knife work to do in the morning yesterday and then started bending leather. Worked till about 8 pm before calling it quits for the day. I was getting ready to put the tools/stamps I use for flower carving and I was struck by just how many I use. I'd finished carving Larry's Horizontal sheath and grabbed up all the tools to put them back in their rack:

But perhaps this is a better shot:

So four different sized bevellers, four different bar backgrounders, one petal lifter, two petal shaders, two leaf shaders, a flower center and one veiner and not pictured two different sized swivel knives. It's a handful. The three sheaths I was working on are pictured. Larry's is the only one with any tooling. The chestnut one on top is the second attempt on the one I had to cut out. A thread (size and color), change was necessary for the bottom two sheaths so I called it there last night.

Here's a pic of the Rodeo, Bandito and in that same general size a Cowboy:

While a big project and takes a lot of leather, they don't take a lot of time. Cutting out all the pieces is probably the biggest deal.

Didn't realize it took so many tools to carve the leather. But I'm not surprised. 😍 Those chaps πŸ‘πŸ€  Thanks for the comparison pic! The Rodeo looks like a bigger Coyote 🐺

I see how you are hiding my sheath's carving with your hand and tools πŸ˜…
