Horsewright Knives and Leather

Finished off that batch that's in the rough in the pics up above. Couple of spacer uses to go along with the conversation we've been having lately:

Elk with Onyx on this Cowboy:

And Bocote with Jade on this Gordo:

Finally got the new ones added to the site. A couple of different shots:

Another in elk:

Why the rifles as props? Well I'd just finished two rifle scabbards:

This one had his brand at the throat and initials at the toe.

The second one just had a border stamp:

I really like the Cowboy in Elk & Oynx you put on your site and the Bocote on the Mestano you posted looks outstanding! Those are the two handle materials I'm kinda of torn between for another Cowboy with maybe Jade or Jasper.

I wondered do you ever make the Cowboy model without the brass bolster and use wood or micarta for the bolster instead?

Always a pleasure to see your work....👍👍👍....Loving that mycarta!!!!👌 Any OD green silk rags????😜
Love the jade...👌

Great leather work.
Thank you sir. Nichole, my wife, was working on a set of her travel bags for stock to put on the website, a duffel bag and shaving kit type bag. Problem was they sold off the workbench before they got done (I mean that's not a terrible problem, especially when the idea is to sell them). Started throwing $100 bills down until she said stop. She has made quite a few of these but something special bout this pair:

All water buffalo including the handles and shoulder strap. The only part not is the tab with the makers mark and handle on the lil travel bag.

I'd received an order for a Pancake holster with water buffalo overlay for a J Frame:

I personally have this exact same holster. It was interesting to see how the water buffalo had worn with a few years of use on it:

Thanks! Yes I have done wood bolsters before but it was a long time ago. No pics of those that I can think of. I could sure do one if you wanted to do a special order.

Thank you sir for the kind words and continuing support!

We did have a forest green silk for wild rags and a sage green was probably our second most popular, with a copper being our biggest seller.. Don't have any silkcarta in the green though. Just the blue. There was a guy up here, a fellow BF member. He'd built the press and spent the time learning how to make good mycarta. We'd done some trading and this silkcarta and the woolcarta is all that is left from those, and not a bunch of either is left. We'd cut ties because he'd broken The Cowboy Code and so didn't get a lot of stuff from him. He's passed on now so we'll just leave er there. Nope no green. Heck we've gotten rid of all our scraps too.

Well guys lets have a look see here. I think this pic might help a bit. While this is not all of my models, it does incorporate some of the most popular.

0dFTV8f.jpg

From the top:

1) Ranchero
2) Cowboy
3) Paisano
4) Cowboy Toothpick
5) Coyote
6) & 7) Vaquero
8) Mestano
9) Gordo
10) Poco

Was looking back at this (partial) post with some of the different models by size. I had to hunt around, all the way back to pg. 6 for it. There are some really nice knives on the site, Dave.

T-B: Cowboy, Mestano, Gordo.

Was hoping to have pictures with a bear or moose, but ended up trading hunting season for a week with an ailing family member. This is a beautiful Paisano Dave crafted a couple months back from merino sheep horn, green liners, and a 26C3 blade.

Something I hadn’t seen much, it’s paired with a horizontal cross draw sheath in roughout with an oak carving. It’s been a joy to use around the homestead and in the woods here in Alaska. Dave, thank you for your dedication to your craft.
