Quick question for everyone. if I were to do those Sonorans as a matching set, what handle material would folks like to see?
Thats an interesting combo. I've never used ebony. Quite a bit of African Blackwood though. Its pretty similar.Turquoise & ebony.
Use to use a lot of buffalo horn. Not so much anymore. Use to import it myself from India, I used so much. Did have some problems with it wanting to curl back up. Pretty sure I could outsmart it these days though in that regard. I had two cousins in NY that every year would order an identical knife. One year it was a Buckaroo Grandes with buffalo horn handles. They wanted to know if there was buffalo leather out there we could make the sheath out of. Thats what got me started in the buffalo leather deal. Researching for that project.Buffalo horn with buffalo overlay on the sheaths
I've got some suitable AEB-L enroute!THIS SONORAN CAMP KNIFE IS EXACTLY WHAT I'D WANT FOR MY NEXT HORSEWRIGHT whether in AEB-L or Damascus![]()

Elk & sheephorn will be goodWow guys thanks for the input! I was way off, I was gonna do walnut but maybe no now. So my plan is to do this batch with the elk. I have more blades so I'll do another pair with the sheephorn, as while I have a few sets of sheephorn in stock, none are big enough so will have to order some in. The elk I have.

Good deal, thinking for sure thats what I'll do.Elk & sheephorn will be good![]()

Will do when I get my 112 in it.Cool,
You will have to let us know what it's like. I have a couple on my wish list.
Good deal! Kinda a funny story on how we mark those and some other projects too. Thats branded with a branding iron. Whats funny about that is the branding iron itself. Its a full size electric iron just like we would use on our cattle. In fact its exactly the same as its made by the same guy.Got my large buckaroo sheath today, thanks.View attachment 2587270
Very cool! Thanks for the order and the great pics! The Horsewright Paisano in 63 HRC AEB-L and Sheepshorn handle, (came in the same day as the Carothers EDC2 in D3V). Paisano is 6.5" long with 2.625" blade.

We knew that he made brands for craft use too we just never envisioned that it would be the same size as our regular brand! We use it on a lot of soft leather projects:
I’ve got a silver horseshoe nail in the hat band of my black hat too!
