RedbeAR, Hear is a place where I took my son last summer for a vision quest of sorts.....

It is in south eastern Oregon in an area known as the Oregon Outback and it is ...isolated. This photo is from the middle of a 7 by 12 mile dry lake bed where one can truly appreciate the curvature of the earth. At night the stars go from horizon to horizon for 360 degrees. There are Cougars in those mountains in the distance, antelope everywhere and not a trace of human existance for hours. The perfect place for a kid that is seriously ''plugged in''. He loved it.

Sounds like a great spot Pepper. I love going into the bush up here.

Hey Brian

Say hello to carrier tilt. Otherwise piston = good to go.

From the Adams Arms FAQ page:

Q. What is carrier tilt and should I be concerned?
A. Carrier tilt is a symptom of a problem not the actual problem. The actual problem is sloppy or loose tolerances in the receiver. Our one-piece carrier combined with our bolt spring eliminates carrier tilt in even the sloppiest of receivers. For those who have normal mil/industry spec AR’s, the design of our system does not have an issue with carrier tilt.

I went with the Adams Arms piston. It seems to be the easiest to maintain and gets good reviews. Large recommended a 1 in 7 twist barrel and I ended up with a stainless 1 in 8 twist barrel. MIAD grip and MOE stock.

Be sure to report back on it, after you use it a few times. Might need to get one for my SBR.

.

. Yes they are....

Cosa, the boy learned Cougars won't eat you when they are respected and coyotes won't hurt you even when they surround your tent at 2am.
And, you can be away from any signs of human existence and ....survive.
He also learned, coincidentally, that he sleeps better in the wild after his dad shows him the 92F he brought along in case said cougar decided to change his mind. Driving a 3/4 ton pickup across a dry lake bed, alone, was also an eye opener.
