Why you’re going abroad without a knife? Or you prefer to travel without checked luggage?
Late to the reply, but depending what country I'm going to knives can be considered a weapon or confiscated in customs. In those cases, I bring a leatherman and a small multi tool.

I was reading about Damascus on CRK website and they said they coat the blades. Interesting. I wonder why since reports seems to be they are pretty darn stainless
