Hot damn! One month challenge! Damascus edition!

It's an added protection from rust spots.

Yeah, could be but I thought it was stainless Damascus. I know that coating would be necessary with some of the old school sebenzas that used carbon steel Damascus (beautiful!) but I would have thought not with the current types. CRK has a long history of not keeping their website exactly up to date, so I wondered if it was an artifact from the old days.

I could just email them and get the answer but what fun would that be?

I'm gonna grab the next PJ damascus that pops up on the exchange. I'm just not sure if I should stick with the large or try a small.

Lucky you, I had the same idea but have decided I need buy a wicked edge so I’ll have to do that first and wait to replenish funds so you won’t have to compete with me. My dream knife might be a small 21 raindrop…

I agree a raindrop damascus 21 is truly a grail knife. Ahh you don't need one of those. I just use sandpaper and a 1 micron strop.

You are right! But arguably I NEED it more than a Damascus sebenza 🤔. I use a sharpmaker which works fine to tune up the edge, but I have minimal skill after a lifetime of sharpening knives. I figure with a WE I can occasionally bring to edge back to awesomeness.

I agree, Its hard to justify spending 6 or 7 hundred dollars on a single knife. You should see me trying to explain why I need one to my wife 🤣.

Yeah, it took me a while to really learn how to sharpen. I just sharpened and resharpend an old cheapo until my skills became supurb. I'm glad I took the time to learn though. It's so satisfying when your edge will melt through phone book paper and split hair even if an edge like that isn't practical.

After years of unsuccessful explaining, pleading and negotiating I stumbled on the secret to this very problem.

I changed my PayPal shipping address to me office.
