(Hot?) Drinks and Foodprep on the trail pics with your favorite BK

Outdoors lunch today
Brought the Kelly Kettle, BK40 for food and Esee 5 for the wood processing.

Made an English breakfast for dinner tonight to start the weekend
Out to my favorite spot by the river.

First prepared firewood with the BK-9 and got a fire going in the MSP Core 4 stove

Starting out with boiling about 500ml water for some tea, rooibos for some relaxation

Next step, heating up my beans, a can of 400 grams

Fry an egg, sunny side up Pepper and salt added for extra taste

Now it's time to heat up a hand full of mini tomatoes for a few minutes until they're hot and soft.

Spicy sausages to make it complete, fried a couple of minutes er side

Toast a couple of sandwiches, careful not to get them all black

And ready to eat

Got about 100 mosquito bites making this, so I'll remember this meal tomorrow

Found a nice quiet spot
The BK-7 prepared some wood for my fire

While the kettle was on, the BK-40 sliced some gingerroot for tea

Splitting into tiny sticks

Always love it when the kettle is boiling and blowing of some steam

put the hobo stove on

Frying 2 eggs to go on my sandwiches

Drinking my tea while waiting for the eggs to be done

And waiting some more

Ready to eat

Just one more shot because I liked this one alot

Brought the Becker BK-9 and the Kelly Kettle out today.
Making up some fresh ginger root tea.

Chopped, split and debarked sticks

My BK-13 lives in the pocket of the BK-9 sheath, nice to have a clean sharp knife for slicing the ginger root

Love it when the flames come out of the Kelly Kettle's chimney !

Need to cool of a bit before I can drink it

How are you liking the Becker folder? What other folders have you used? Ever try a Spyderco Endura and Delica?

Appreciate that alot.

I like the blades size and shape of the BK-40. I carry it frequently! Handle fills the hand up nicely.

I sort of wish it ran a bit smoother, there a tiny 'hump' just when the lockbar bearing jumps of the blade before the lock engages. And the handle material feel a bit hollow.

I have not tried the Endura or Delica, but like the FRN material for handles tha Spyderco use better.I do have a few Syderco's with G10, but they're a step up in price, but also in feeling and materials.

Still the shape of the blade makes me like the BK40 alot.

Wood was dry enough to have some curls catch a spark from a ferrorod

We got a new pup in the house so not going anywhere since about 2 weeks
Did get a new stove for my birthday, an old Brunton Optimus Nova.
Tested it out in the backyard to make some fresh gingerroot tea.
Very light knife use for the BK16

Yes, a great tool. Super light weight and just the right size to prepare firewood for my twig stoves. Love that thing. Hete's an older picture

Backyard Burger
BK-16 & Brunton Optimus Nova liquid fuel stove

The pup is keeping me a bit from going for longer hikes… so a little backyard bushcraft.
To get long burntime in a small stove, fill it like a Swedish torch

Fill the centre with tiny wood splinters and birch bark

Make sure the fire burns well, feed it with tiny stick if it needs some

Once its going you can put the kettle/pot/pan on
No need for a while to put more wood on

Fresh gingerroot tea

The burntime was about 40 minutes, nI think it was pine. If you use oak or beech you'll get even longer burn times.

For me the 7 is the most versatile. Big enough for serious wood processing, smal enough for decent food processing and easy carry in my pack.

Bringing different knives on different trips does bring more fun than the same knife every time.

Me and Grim went out for lunch, looking for a nice spot in the autumn sun.

Prepared some Firebox Nano sized chunks of firewood with the Opinel 12 saw & BK-7.

Split the chunks in 4 and removed some of the center to set up the Nano like a Swedish torch.

Fatwood curls to get the fire started today, love that delicious smell when cutting it....

Always a statisfying feeling to see the flames shooting up after striking my ferro rod for a few times.

Slicing some fresh gingerroot for tea while my mug is on the Nano to get my water to a boil.

Grim had his lunch already... took him about 10 seconds?!

I prepared some dough at home, flattened it out into the size of my frying pan. Flour, water, salt and a tiny bit of baking soda.

Split down some more firewood as it was burning quicker than I hoped for.

First flatbread in after my tea was ready.

And the second one...

Next up my Chorizo sausages, man they smell amazing!

Grim is ready to continue our walk...
