How about a Buck Spitfire in S90V?

Hello Ladies and Gents,

I wanted to give you a heads up on a special run we are doing this month. It is a Buck 722 Spitfire with yellow aluminum handles and a combination steel for the blade. The blade is S90V sandwiched between CPM-154. You can see the line in the picture. The darker steel is the S90V, so your cutting edge is the S90V. We are only going to have 22 of these made.

We are still working on a name for this bad boy. I was thinking the Hornet or Yellow Jacket. Any thoughts?

I am really digging this one! I got the email earlier, and I have been thinking about it since. :D I kind of like the Hornet name. I just have a couple questions. I'm curious, what does sandwiching S90V between CPM-154 accomplish? I don't know enough about steels to really know any better. Also, do you have a price point for the knife yet? Other than that, I think it looks great.

spitfire isnt the one id want in that steel. prefer a larger than the large vantage or marksman or anything with a bigger blade.

great idea, regardless that it isnt my favorite knife model.

The Spitfire does little for me. However, I do like the idea of a sandwich with S90V edge on a larger blade. That could still be a folder. Good Idea guys. DM

The knife looks great and nice to see a premium steel being used. When will they be available?

I like it. How much is this bad boy?
I would like to know the tech behind sandwiching the steel too.

It has a 3 1/4" blade. Which I might can regrind the entire blade into something more attractive, in order to get that steel.? Humm. I'll think on it. DM

Nice knife with premium steel. It will be a great knife for steel junkies. Plus it's a start to other products offering it.

Nice one ! I just thinking about name :) some thoughts: Honey edge, Desert lizard, Spear yellow

The draws for this knife will be outstanding cutting power and edge retention in a handy package. I like it. Those who carry it will appreciate being able to go after anything that needs cutting, including small game.

I like it.

And yeah, "yellowjacket" would be a good name. Or perhaps just "yellowjack." Knives like this are the modern incarnation of the traditional jackknife, carried by all for just about any task.

can you message me the price please, i like the concept and it looks good. my issue would be sharpening the re-curve with s90v. s90v is my favorite just not fun to sharpen on a recurve.

Hornet or Yellow Jacket are both great ideas. Maybe Buck can etch a picture of one on the side of the handle. That would be over the top cool.

Has Buck solved the lock up issues that the earlier ones had? Specifically, the up and down movement in the locked position was reported to be pretty bad.

Exactly. The Spitfire Extreme I just purchased has that same up/down blade play when the blade is locked open as the standard factory ones I have do. I was hoping with the upgraded model the fit might have been tweaked to eliminate that. I do hope that this issue is looked at with this other new premium version of the Spitfire. Ti slabs on that blade steel would be pretty cool as well I think.

I was also disappointed about the up and down play. My Extreme has it to. So I don't think the problem has not been fixed.
