How about a forum knife PM2 w/ HAP40 Burnt Orange G10 Acid Stone washed Blade

Has Hap40 really proven itself over many of the other good steels?

Proven itself in what way? I find it to have very good edge retention that marginally exceeds steels like s30v. In addition it is very easy to work with (sharpen) and takes an extremely sharp edge with very little effort. It also seems to hold that high level of sharpness quite well.

-As an oversimplified assessment, I'd say it "sharpens like superblue and holds an edge like m4". That has been my assessment after much use, testing and sharpening. The balance of properties I see in this steel makes it a huge winner in my book.

There are great American steels and great Japanese steels. Why can't we be content using the American steels in the American knives and the Japanese steels in the Japanese knives? I see the recent shippingof S30V to Japan as a giant loss to us as knife afis because it would appear as though we are not going to get to try as many of the Japanese steels as we could.

Yeah, this is kind of how I feel too.

Me too, sort of. The reality is there aren't many steels that are truly proprietary. You can source the same steel from many companies in many different countries. The exception from my perspective is that the Japanese seem to limit themselves to their original steels. I think that's more of a shame than the Japanese maker getting some S30V from New York. Carpenter did an S30V equivalent, so too could Hitachi for example. Getting tool steels in flat stock can be tricky though, but zknives is showing at least 9 sources for a HAP40 equivalent.

i myself would love if they made a sprint run of PM2 regular black G10/M4!and never mind the colors.

Thinking about it (I'm not sure btw if this can be done) but a DLC coated black Hap40 blade with the Orange G10 would be even better to my eyes. Don't think I like the stone wash look.

Has there ever been a blade forum spyderco?

I was wondering also... I've never seen one.

I'd assume the chances are slim though, with the lack of sales volume for the more recent EDC Forum knives, and also the slower sale movement of the most recent 2015 Spyderco Forum knife... seems they also had to blow out the remaining stock of the USN forum knives, too.

I'll just be waiting for the already upcoming various dealer exclusives.

I would be stoked to see a HAP40 Mule Team. :)

A K390 Para would be nice as well. A HAP40 Para seems like an impossibility.:( A Burnt Orange G-10 K390 or REX45^^^^ would be swell.:)

If we are asking for a HAP40 forum knife then I vote for a HAP40 Caly3 or Kiwi4 with burnt orange g10.

If we are asking for a Para2 forum knife then I vote 10V and green canvas micarta.

;)

Is the pope catholic? Does a bear poop in the woods? Of course I'm in!

"As the title says, how many of you will be in?"

The upcoming CF/M4 version will be really close to this. Or you could try to get the Jade/M4 version and either dye the scales or swap scales with a standard S30V model.

Spyderco occasionally makes a forum version for their own forum but I don't think they would make one for someone else's forum. Of course if a retailer could be found to sponser the order then in a couple of years the knives would be available. However the biggest problem with sponsoring an order like this is getting people to even remotely agree on what they want. For as many people that want stonewashed, that many and more will not want it. People will pick every color of G10 imaginable. People will pick 10 different steels that might be possible and 20 more that would not be possible. And so on.

They do make knives for other forums. There was just a run of Ladybugs last year.
