DAMN These guys are good!!!! I hope we all come home (makers) empty handed as every knife I have seen is really nice.

I really like the matched set and the top bowie. Great stuff, thanks.

I hear you Joss, the Outdoorsman knives are really nice. Love the grinds. The big camp knife looks like a straight spine version of his cutting comp. knife.

I don't understand why I don't yet own several of Burt Foster's knives, I have to correct this deficiency soon. :)

WOW! Those two bowies of Burt's are exceptional.

The more of these knives I see, the more I think next year I should hit Reno instead of Atlanta. Some seriously nice bladeware and looks like plenty of it.

Just thought I'd mention that the Bradshaw interframe folding bowie shown at the beginning of this thread arrived today, and, it is phenomenal, I don't have good pics of it yet, will post when I get a chance to take some, but, in the meantime, i'm soaking the ivory in mineral oil, will wax it when its done, and it'll be good to go, amazing work, reminds me why Bailey's is one of my all time favorite makers. This is every bit the equal, in some ways better, than any top of the line Kious, Osbourne, you name it, engraved interframe, for a heck of a lot less money, plus, last time I checked, Kious and Osbourne don't forge their blades or handles, nor do their own 24k gold engraving.... :)

Thanks Bailey, I love it! You are one talented guy. :)

I have been wondering this about you myself. I was about ready to have you drug tested. :)

Well, I'm back from Reno and I scored the nicest piece in my collection by far. But I don't have any pic, so sorry.

Here's a neat bowie by Mike Williams. The blade is 8 1/2" of 8670M steel. The amazing cloud-like hamon is the result of a water quench. No clay was used. The handle is ebony and all fittings are 416SS.

Roger

Mine all mine. :)

Nice score :)
Nice seeing you again, and looked like you had a good time as we did.
I ended up with a total of 4 folders. Actually one was Luana's, and I ended up with 3 :)
All four were folders with 1084/15N20 damascus. I got 1 Mike Draper SandStorm(which I had ordered previously), 1 of Audra Draper's large Cowgirl's, and a Folding Hunter Classic from Chester Darcey. Luana got a small Cowgirl from Audra Draper which she had ordered previously.
Had a great time, saw some gorgeous knives, and talked to almost every knifemaker there, and what a great bunch they are.
It was a hoot :D

Need to go to Reno.I walk into the room and get chills. The only problem,if you can call it that is,if it is on the table and for sale buy it. If you don't someone else will.It is the only show I go to where I have an agenda.I make a decision before I go through the door as to who's table I go to.1,2,3,4 ect.
At most other shows I go shopping. If I see something I like so be it.
I bought 5 knives in 10 minutes.Williams,Farr, Knight,Randall,Rodebaugh
Then three more before I left.Howell Rexroat,Wheeler
On to Burt Foster.Great knives and I think he is coming to the BAKCA show. :) Smart too.
The pair of camp knives he had were beautiful. All his goodies were crisp and clean.
He is on my list.

A Don Fogg short sword, leaf blade w/ the usual out-of-this-world hamon, & carved blackwood handle. I blew my budget on this one and didn't buy anything else. It was well worth it, even though there were some awesome pieces on other tables.

Holy schmoly!!  Nothing wrong with putting all your funds into one truly EXCEPTIONAL piece. I seem to recall that you did that at the last Reno show, with equally satisfying results. Congrats!

Roger

I'll post pics later.

I was just there on Friday, and then I flew back. The show was even better than past years, because the makers had all made a special effort to bring a few more pieces, which should be obvious when reading this thread (e.g., last year I think Dan had only 2 pieces). Maybe because of that, I think the show was a bit slower than usual. E.g., after I bought the Don Fogg piece, I browsed the aisles, and Dan Farr, Nick Wheeler, Ron Newton, Tim Hancock and Jerry Fisk all had still things for sale, whereas last year they were sold out very quickly.

That big Newton bowie was a *beast*, with a very thick spine.

Tim Hancock had a lovely, lovely piece with a studed walrus ivory handle. I have to say, I love studed handles...

Don had brought 2 other pieces, but only one of those was for sale, a cord-wrapped shiv / small knife. The other piece was a big camp knife with a blade inspired by Fikes' Jungle Honey, with the most amazing utsuri I've ever seen. Unfortunately, it was already sold.
