Came back from maker as Olive Drab. Sorry no photos, shipped it off to previous buyer with another 50 dollar discount.

He took it, I lost it.

Whoooooooooooooooa, that looks horrid!!! That is just nasty looking.

I LOVE the green that is used to be. If you wanted it olive drab, you would have ordered it that way.

I am sorry that your knife did that.

Why didn't you revoice your dissatisfaction to the maker after he sent back his correction? Why didn't you take pictures of the repair? Why did you wait so long to just repost your dissatisfaction in a forgotten thread?

Your actions appear illogical.

Jim,
Sorry my friend.

That 'repair' sounds like it was just plain lame. I think that it is reasonable to think that if it satisfied the maker then you had your answer. It strikes me as odd that someone would offer to 'fix' something and apparently send it back the same or worse unless he didn't care or doesn't pay attention. Hard to explain. When I send my valuable things for repair and they come back sub-par or guy tells me it's fine when it's not, often there is no use going into it further.

I know you were/are pissed but IMO you didn't over-react and I'm not just talking about the knife aspect. You sure didn't get your money's worth. There wasn't even 'wear and tear' on the knife. I think that you should have gotten a new knife and he could refurbish that one on his own time and resell it. I see how customers are treated at Haynes and Alan will work with them to the nth degree to make sure that they like their flute, unless of course, they sit on it!! Once a lady in Spain dropped her new flute shortly after she made her purchase. He hand carried it from Spain to Boston for repair and hand-carried it back to her. None of this schnoring her on the shipping.

I can see where this is more about the principal of the thing and maybe you fell between the cracks, but well...you moved on.:)

Oh I don't know about that. Hasn't seemed to have moved on to me.

I guess selling the knives was what I meant, plus giving him encouragement--I know that I'd feel burned. Maybe it will take longer to get over the rest of it-- I don't know. Only Jim knows, but it's just a hunk of metal.:D...just saying not to dwell on it, if possible.

It is just a hunk of metal and I would not have brought up the thread again, had I not run across it quite by accident. I was looking for some particular pictures of a knife by Ken Erikson. He had posted in this thread and then I got the bright idea of an update. My mistake, I should have left well enough alone. I am not quite over it as Zen says, it might be because of the situation I find myself in now. Not having enough money to pay my company's bills due to the economy and folks filing bankruptcies on me.

I am just having a bad day, I am sorry I brought it up.

Todd, I wish you had not posted, I would have not posted again and your name would have never been brought up.

To all reading, I am sorry, have your fun with me and tomorrow, I will be locking thread, it will die a death that is long overdue.

Jim

Not quite sure why this thread ended up in W&C. Wouldn't GB&U have been the appropriate forum for this to continue?

Someone moved it, don't know who, after Todd identified himself, I thought that would have been the appropriate place for it. I NEVER would have mentioned his name.

Oh well, its W&C, keel haul me while you can.:)

James,

When I said I was sorry I meant it, do not want you or any one to feel bad.
And I do not know what to say now about problems folks are having.
It is a shame for what a great country we live in.
As far as this deal, I did not try to stiff you, and I think you know that?
I know I had said the knife would maybe need rescaled.
But wanting Ivory in place of the Micarta, I probably would of been better off
making a whole new knife?
When you brought this back up, I thought there had to be some stress involved
I have read a many of your post here and James Todd is NOT a DICK....
Sorry for the language.
Any way I do hope you can get through your troubled times?
We do all have them, some more worse than others.
I wish you nothing but the best - and you know - I DO MEAN IT!

And don't sweat this crap, it happens, we move on like men.

Do take care.

Sincerely

Todd Davison

Thanks Todd, but I never asked for Ivory, new micarta (green) would have been fine, You make a good knife, never said you did not, stuff happens.
Jim

Pay no attention to me. This thread was in Whine and Cheese and is now moved to where it should be.

I hope everything works our for everyone.

You guys are both gentlemen of the Nth degree, it is too bad this became public. Mr. Todd you have always been an honest upfront guy so I am certain that when the knife came back with rebuffed scales instead of the new ones you felt that the maker knew exactly what he was sending back and you had your answer. There would have been no reason to bother to ask why because the solution was a very simple one and when it did not happen..............................................
Mr. Davison, you make gorgeous knives that cause me to drool everytime a photo is posted, and I look at all the photos of knives you make!! . One day I will be able to afford you and would have you make me a knife without hesitation.

Two gentlemen, not a bad or ugly situation but just one that should die now and if anything further comes of this it should be a private matter between two honest men and not us knifeknuts. There are trolls out there we gotta out, not good guys!!!!
