How do you carry your fixed blade?

Spyderco Ronin 2 left side vertical approx the 10 o'clock position easily reached with either hand.

Mostly strong side OWB vertical with edge forward and a forward cant. I normally have the top covered with my leather vest or a military cammie shirt. And I really don't care what people think.

When I lived in SC only time I opened carried was when I was returning from Hunting. I did not edc down there I had cutting tools in my tool boxes.

Here in PA I live in the Philly metro area. Cross carry concealed. It needs to less than 7" total length or it will show a pattern. I also like the Armitus sheaths. I have 3.

I've open carried fixed blades for years and never thought anything about it, but today a comment made me think about it. I carry all sizes up to 6in, never anything bigger though and always up and down carry on the belt so it's seen. Today while shopping I heard an older woman tell her husband, "that guy is carrying a big knife" (a buck 119 today) and then I saw them walk away quickly. I've never been into open carrying my handguns, but never thought that a knife would scare people or make them uncomfortable. Any thoughts or similar experiences? And how do you carry, open or concealed and is there a reason other than personal preference? I do understand that some people see them only as weapons, but this is the first experience I've had where someone was openely verbally and physically disturbed to see my knife.

Open and vertical, but a little higher up the belt. Often a sweater will cover them partially. Just ignore them ... people react quicker if you appear self-conscious. Play with your mask, and they'll focus on that instead :)

When I have a backpack or bag I just toss it there, otherwise it is either horizontal carry or this way, but using a shorter piece of cord:

larger knife like my Ritter I use a sheath I made, it has a belt loop that is attached via a copper rivet that allows the sheath to swivel, making it easier to sit in a car/truck/couch

smaller knives like this Bradford wharncliff I wear horizontally across my right front pocket using a leather horizontal adapter I made that wraps around my belt and snaps onto itself;

The issue is not with you Weasipoint, it is with the people who are scared of a tool. Just the same as with open vs concealed carry of a pistol. It will get to the point that the scared sheep will try and ban knives like they are doing now in the UK and NZ (although they have other reasons for the fear, but it is all from the same source). If someone does not like your ability to carry a tool, that is their problem. Unfortunately they will make their problem into your problem due to that fear. They have become too coddled in our mostly safe society, and that leads to unreasonable thinking, and that leads to efforts by these people to take away your property and Rights.

I carry like you do. Straight down off my belt at 3:00. Never anything over 7”.

My dad always carried is sheath knives on his belt but stuck in his back pocket. His knife was 6”.

Izula with paracord handle in the kydex sheath with no clip in RF pants pocket.
The knife in the sheath is 7" long and the thickness at the widest point is .390".
I use it for general purposes like opening boxes, etc, and only consider it as a weapon of last resort.

I'm not really sure people notice much. I have never experienced something like that, not that it would influence me if it did happen.

People are afraid of everything anymore. I only carry folders (pocket clip) in general unless out camping/working. This is a farm community but the city is seeping in more every year.

Small knives mostly in a front pocket in a suitable slip or close-fitting sheath. The only knives I carry on my belt are a BK 14 or a David Mary EDC cimeter, crossdraw at 11:00. Anything bigger goes in a back pack or overnight bag, or in motorcycle luggage. On a motorbike, I am not carrying anything on my person bigger than a Micra.

Thanks for all the replys and thoughts on the matter! Really cool to see and hear about the different options for carrying. I'll always carry a fixed blade but now am going to experiment with different locations on the belt and angles for carry. I did the buck 119 again today and had it in my normal spot on my belt, but tucked it into the pocket there. It was nice until I wanted to use my pocket, I always have a folder or other blade in my right pocket so I'm used to having my left pocket for any other storage, not sure how I felt about having the blades in both, I'm afraid of scratching a handle or sheath putting something in the pocket or taking it out.

You don’t see a GP carried iwb very often lol, respect
I carry a Buck 110 loose in my pocket too (but they said it couldn’t be done!). I’m not a small dude. Can’t even see the GP with a shirt over it, and it’s not all that bulky since I lost a couple pounds.

My ol lady asked me once “aren’t you worried that it only holds six shots?” And I told her “if I pump six .357 magnums into something and it keeps coming, I’m running, and you better be right on my ass.”

The longer kwaiken frequently gets carried arround the neck. In the open. The warncliff clipped to a pocket.

The Phillip Patton on the belt.

In my area, the fixed blades are open carry.

That's a great looking setup, lots of nice leather there!

The GP100 is definitely a good choice for shooting .357 magnum. For carry though, that's dedication! I went the other way. I traded in my SP101 for an LCR years ago.

Now instead of a folder in my pocket and a gun on my belt, I sometimes wear a fixed blade on my belt and carry the LCR in a pocket holster.

I open carry because it is legal where I live in Florida, I don't want to bother with a concealed carry permit, I wear shorts and a T-shirt so there's not room to conceal much anyway, and my pockets are too full of other stuff.

When I am Out And About, and especially when my T-shirt is not suitable for tucking into my shorts, I usually carry a neck knife. The cheaper Spartan Blades Enyo has a great kydex sheath.

When I am working on the farm or sometimes when I'm out and my T-shirt is in, I like to carry a fixed blade at 10:00 for cross-draw, outside the belt (inside would be damp), angled a bit above horizontal so it does not interfere with sitting or squatting. The Ruike Hornet F815 works real well. It has a kydex sheath with a clip that rotates with detents at 8 different angles. Some other knives I have problems with. For example, my Guardian 3 came with a leather sheath for horizontal carry, but the belt loop is so tight I can barely fit a flat-blade screwdriver under it, much less my belts, which are 1 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick. I don't see how that is ever supposed to work. I love the LionSteel H2, but again the fancy leather sheath that is supposed to allow carry in 8 different positions has belt loops that are too small. I got some after-market sheaths, but the belt slots are too small.

I have been drooling over Horsewright Horsewright 's sheaths.
