How do you carry your fixed blade?

I open carry because it is legal where I live in Florida, I don't want to bother with a concealed carry permit, I wear shorts and a T-shirt so there's not room to conceal much anyway, and my pockets are too full of other stuff.

When I am Out And About, and especially when my T-shirt is not suitable for tucking into my shorts, I usually carry a neck knife. The cheaper Spartan Blades Enyo has a great kydex sheath.

When I am working on the farm or sometimes when I'm out and my T-shirt is in, I like to carry a fixed blade at 10:00 for cross-draw, outside the belt (inside would be damp), angled a bit above horizontal so it does not interfere with sitting or squatting. The Ruike Hornet F815 works real well. It has a kydex sheath with a clip that rotates with detents at 8 different angles. Some other knives I have problems with. For example, my Guardian 3 came with a leather sheath for horizontal carry, but the belt loop is so tight I can barely fit a flat-blade screwdriver under it, much less my belts, which are 1 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick. I don't see how that is ever supposed to work. I love the LionSteel H2, but again the fancy leather sheath that is supposed to allow carry in 8 different positions has belt loops that are too small. I got some after-market sheaths, but the belt slots are too small.

I have been drooling over Horsewright Horsewright 's sheaths.
They'll certainly fit on a belt. Just let me know if you use an oversize belt. Generally built for a standard 1.5" belt. On sheaths that have a slot in them like my Slotted sheath, Slot and Loop sheath or the Pancake sheath I use a 2" punch to cut the slots. They fit a 1.5" perfectly as the slot closes a hair after cutting.

I like OP's post, because at the heart of it is the question, "what's a reasonable concession I can choose to make non-knife enthusiasts more comfortable?". Like it or not, we're the face of a community of knife people and what we do reflects on everyone else.

My advice is to pick a knife that's big enough to accomplish 90% of what you need and one you'd feel comfortable pulling out in public. Concealment is fine but you can't conceal a knife you need to use. I don't get much attention in Connecticut when I open carry an Izula in a modest leather vertical sheath, but a Junglas carried in a grocery store would even get my attention.

When I do carry a fixed blade it is generally a smaller fixed blade like a Guardian 3, Guardian 3.5, or an ESEE 3. All are carried in a kind of modified horizontal scout carry riding on Tek Loks. When I am out and about and dont want to necessarily flaunt the fact that I have a knife on my belt I have it small of back as it makes it very easy to throw a shirt over it and here in Virginia there is no problem concealing. When I am going to be sitting down for a long time or getting into a car I will slide the tek lok on the belt around until it hits the next belt loop essentially moving it to my left side with the pommel facing forward. Far more comfortable when sitting though you sacrifice concealability if that matters to you.

I could care less about what people think of my knives, most of-em are scared of every damn thiing anyway. I keep guns and knives under wraps so that I don't have to listen to their sorry ass complaints about them. I do not assist others when they need a knife, I just tell them to get a knife. I'm closed minded about this but I'm comfortable with it.

Primarily ISP(inside pocket carry) for me

That middle sheath is dope. I want to start pocket carrying a fixed blade so bad but can never seem to find a good sheath that tucks the knife deep enough into the pocket. Who made that one?
Thank you!

That one is from JouFuu Leather.
He is in the Hosted Knifemaker's Forum but I always contact him through his website

Very durable sheath and carries very slim

I’m going to have to remember that name when I buy a decent little BRK fixie to carry edc. Thanks for the info!

Horizontal crossdraw has been my preferred method for some time now, a couple of decades.

The wife just switched recently from horizontal to just behind the hip:

No eyes batted around here. Saturday night we went to a concert (Dave Stamey, best western singer you may or may have not heard of), carrying the knives as we always do. No eyes batted, other folks were openly carrying knives too.

I always love your content, Horsewright. What part of the country are you from?.

Who makes that sheath, and where can you buy one?

So far: so good!
He is definitely the right person to be asking...

My wife (pictured there), made that sheath, belt and a matching holster for her Sig 365. Making sheaths for other folks knives is a big part of our business.

They are our standard Pancake sheath and holster only with a water buffalo overlay, which we do pretty often. Couple holsters with the water buffalo overlay:

It works well with a contrasting thread but standard white works well too. Here's one I made for someone else's knife:

Its a pretty popular option and leather that we offer on a lot of items:

This water buffalo is the contrast leather on this pair of leggings:

Thats how we really got started using it for overlays as we were looking for something to do with our left overs after making leggings from it:

Really the only drawback to this leather used as an overlay on a sheath is that ya can't tool it. So you would contact us either by calling, email or PM here to order one. Info in my signature line.

WOW!! You have my complete and undivided attention.
I grabbed a link to your website, and will try to get myself educated on what can be done for a dedicated Southapaw...(Knife and sidearm combo...)

Good deal. Can do for a Southpaw! That set of holster, sheath and belt, above, done in turquoise was for a Southpaw.

Edit to add: Ya should really have a look on our Instagram page. Lots more to look at there.
