How do you carry your knife?

How do you all carry your EDC knife?

Belt? Front pocket? Back pocket? Left side? Right side? Tip up? Tip down?

You left out a way...

... sometimes easier and more convenient as a "neck knife". :)

I'm one of those weirdoes that buys multiples of the same clothing item and wears them every day, and for the past couple of years I have been wearing Tru-Spec 24/7 pants almost exclusively. I like these pants not only because of the functionality of the pockets, but because they don't scream tactical pants and just look like normal pants. Plus when I'm wearing them it is not obvious how loaded out I actually have them. They work well functionally for me in my everyday life, but don't look out of place if I go out to supper or somewhere like that. I even had some made into shorts by a local seamstress, because I like to wear my shorts at a grown up length and not the Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin length that Tru-Spec makes the shorts version.

Anyhow, back on topic. One of my favorite features of these pants are the dedicated "knife pockets" on either side behind the hip pocket. Now these pockets are almost always too small for whatever folder I may be carrying, but they are perfect for my flashlight and Victorinox Swistool. So, I carry as follows: In my right front pocket I carry my primary folder (varies depending on activity/preference) with my Swisstol in the right "knife pocket", while in my left (weak) front pocket I carry a Karambit reverse grip with my Surefire Aviator behind it in the left "knife pocket".

Right (primary folder and Swisstool)

Left (Karambit and Surefire Aviator)

Right front pocket when wearing normal pants.
Inside waistband (right hip) when in hospital scrubs.
Always tip-up.

Depends upon the knife but my normal EDC is clipped to my right front pocket. If I have a multi-tool it will ride horizontally on my belt in a Benchmade sheath. I have also been known to carry my Griptillian the same way.

Fixed blade is belt carry, left side.

right front pocket - thats it. nothing else special - it happens to be tip up at the moment though.

In town : deep inside my right front pocket, usually with a long lanyard that slightly dangle out the pocket.
Another one clipped in the inside pocket of the jacket/suit

Home/bush*:*clipped on right front pocket, fixed blade on right side of belt or attached on the pack

Right front pocket tip up for city EDC.
Backpacking or hiking, on my belt in a leather holster.

My Bradford G3 or my FbF Hiking Buddy go on my waist at about 10:00 for RH crossdraw. The nice thing with crossdraw carry is that it's also easily accessible with my LH. Whatever folder I have for the day goes down in my RFP, so it ends up being carried TU no matter how the clip is oriented. The only folder I clip to my pocket is my Para 2. That one gets clipped TD, just like it came.

My RFP is a dedicated knife pocket so there's no sharing there. I'm RH, so when I carry my Glock it can go on my waist, strong side, without me having to move anything.

How I carry depends greatly on what I am doing, where I am going, what I am wearing, and what I am carrying. Typically it is a modern folder RFP and a fixed blade back left hip IWB opposite my pistol.

On weekdays I rotate various smaller EDCs in my right front pocket.

On weekends, however, the only way to go is tailored:

Right side next to 45 on belt. Or folding in sheath or sometimes in pocket. Keys, cell phone and other assorted daily needs. I also carry a small backpack for cell phone charger, cigarettes, books and God knows what I may pick up during the day. Some days I'm a in the pocket carry, other days a fixed blade from the belt.

A SAK (pioneer X or cadet) with a tec clip in my left rear pocket.

A small one-hand-opener (dragonfly salt fully serrated right now) clipped tip up in my right rear pocket. I'm awaiting the release of the spyderco rhino, which I anticipate will replace the dfly. Occasionally a ZT 0450 takes this spot instead.

A Benchmade crooked river with a deep carry clip purloined from my Adamas, clipped tip up in my right front pocket. Occasionally I will carry a Spyderco Military S110V in this pocket, and will carry it in pocket without using the clip as I will only carry tip up. This knife has a small lanyard that hangs just out of my pocket so it can be deployed easily. Other full size folders will occasionally take this spot instead.

Occasionally a buck 110 will be worn in sheath on my belt at the 4 o'clock position.

Right front pocket, tip up, opening toward the seam. While the risk is relatively minor, the ease of use makes it a no brainer.

EDC is always a folder clipped in RFP. Right now it's tip-up, but that really depends on the knife (normally a Manix2). Weekends will often see a FB either crossdraw SOB, or 4 o'clock on the belt, depending on the knife and sheath.

I'm a lefty, so the handgun is always IWB at 8 or 9 o'clock. Luckily I'm a bit ambidextrous with a knife - but I prefer to 'draw' with my right, so the left/right carry thing works really well for me.
