I'll add to the topic by saying I carry my Case 3 7/8" pen in my right front jeans (what I wear most every waking hour) pocket along with keys or whatever else might be there. This 1977 knife has Delrin scales and is a user so I don't worry about keeping the bolsters scratch free. I keep an Alox Swiss Army Cadet in my left front pocket, along with a Fenix AAA flashlight and my very small wallet, for it's supplemental utility. I tried the Cadet - and a peanut at one time - in my watch pocket but found it to be a little 'in the way' and wearing on the pocket when my hand goes in and out of the big pocket.
I love the size of this larger Case pen I now have, and have found it to not be as obstrusive as I had originally imagined it might be, but I can't do without some of the things the Cadet does, hence a two-knife complement.
I don't doubt the ergonomics and habits of a daily-use knife routine are very personal, and are most likely dictated by the type of jobs different folks have, the type of tasks they have to perform, what they wear each day, knife size and style preferences, etc., etc., but I think for a jeans-wearing remodeler like myself my knives are more like tools than anything. I still want them to have a certain tradtional appeal - that's why I chose them and I do take care of them - but I don't really distinguish between users and show knives.
