How do you carry your slipjoints?

When I carry mine, I just drop them into my pocket. However, that usually leads to lint and such getting into the crevices. That is not a big deal to me as I can easily just blow lint out, but I also have to be more vigilant about not putting coins, keys, and other such items into my pocket as well. Sometimes that is an inconvenience, and sometimes it's just plain hard to remember not to do that given that my slippies tend to "disappear" in my pocket in the first place.

So, do you guys carry traditional knives only in your pockets, only in some kind of belt sheath/pouch, a little of both depending on the knife, or something completely different?

Mine go straight into the pockets. No knife purse or anything. Sometimes they even get thrown in with keys and change.

Do they get scratched sometimes? You bet. But they're none the worse for wear. And it'll take forever for a knife to get that nice, pocketworn feeling if you are constantly babying it.

I keep my knives separated from keys/etc. I don't subscribe to the "character" marks theory. I hate scratches and dents.

I just throw mine in my pocket. I try to be conscious of which pocket and try to put keys in a different pocket. I wouldn't dare to carry it in a purse for fear of losing my man card. :D

I'm not a big fan of scratches but I know that over the years they will be inevitable. Just as they are inevitable on nice watches or jewelry or other items I carry on my person on a regular basis.

This comes up about once or twice a year it seems...I'm still using this method...it's been working for me and I haven't had any new holes in my pockets to speak of.

This is what I do. Most customs I carry can be sent back to the maker for a fluff and buff if need be but I never do that. I really don't care about scratches on a user....production or custom.

That's not a bad idea Elliott. More of a pocket liner than a knife purse. Looks like his website is down though. Is he still around?

Right front pocket, next to my money clip. The money clip keeps the knife upright in my pocket when wearing jeans.

Pocket lint? I carry a dedicated tool to clean that out of my knives. The toothpick on the vic classic that's always on my key chain.

Step 1) Pick Traditional EDC for the day, (this could take some time)
Step 2) Choose pocket for said EDC, (any pocket is fair game)
Step 3) Drop into chosen pocket, (add appropriate pocket fodder, (change, keys, other knives, lighters, etc...)).

I have a few shiny ones that I like to protect but 99% of my knives have pocket scars from bein' carried.

I also use my watch pocket for appropriately sized slipjoints.

I carry one slipjoint in my right front pocket and another one in the watch pocket just above it. Nothing else resides in those pockets except lint.

My loose change and petty cash ride in my left front pocket and my keys dangle from a quick release clip that I keep on my belt.

I used to use purses until Kerry and Tony slapped me silly. I stick them in my right front pocket "nekkid and alone".

I just drop my knife in my right front pocket with a bandana, and go forth. The cell phone is also in the right front pocket with my pocket knife. But no keys, change, pens, ammo, or other stuff. That's what other pockets are for.

In this neck of the woods, purses get two punches on the man card. At five punches, you have to be reviewed by your peers at last call down at the pub. Six punches and it's automatic revocation of the man card.

Ahh...snap! Hand it over. :D

Personally I like a pouch that fits the knife accordingly, like a Sebenza.
I carry my sebbie in its calfskin pouch, I just cant be worrying about the pocket-clip all the time on a $500 knife.
Most small slippies have their own size, that I share amongst the more similar sizes. Or I use a KFS pocket sheath that holds both knife and flashlight. I profess not to be a big fan of lint in the action, scratches on the bolsters or handles ect

I did more damage the one time I tried to use a purse than I would have just letting it ride with the rest of the pocket stuff. And the time I whipped out a bandanna and launched a very nice knife about 15' onto concrete completely broke me of the need. If it is a special knife I do let it have the pocket to itself.

Hmmmm maybe it's weird... but I usually take a needle and a thread, and saw up about an inch of the margin of a front right pocket, creating a little pouch for slipjoint, so: it can't rotate, it's separated from other stuff in the pocket I always know where it is.

Lol sorry Brad that sucks and I'm sure you were furious but that image just cracked me up...only because of the look I'm sure I would have had on my face had it been me. Right front pocket for all my slipjoints, unless I'm carrying a small one that will fit in my watch pocket.
