How do you carry your slipjoints?

I think for me it started with carrying a sebenza. With the back open anything can get in and dull the edge. Old habits die hard and I just have a way of organization that works for me. It makes more sense to me to avoid wear than to knowingly promote it. That is just me and possibly a phycological disorder...lmao... and I have a buffer that will take off scratches in a blink of an eye if I wanted them removed. So I guess it really is just a tick in my brain, I try not to be mindless as much as possible...sometimes its hard :)

Lol ok, I just tried shoving a dime into various places on my peanut :D

You did what to your what?! :D Taken out of context, this is a hilarious and somewhat suspect statement. I can hear the PSA now "Kids, don't be shoving dimes in your peanut - it just ain't right."

Pocket carry for me although I think Im going to get my leather guy to make up a couple pocket sheaths with room for a small fixed blade and slipjoint. I usually carry both and I like back pocket carry so it should work out good and free up room in the front.

Watch pocket: keys.
Right front pocket: wallet and slippie upright.
Left front pocket: cell phone and clip folder.
Right rear pocket: can of 'bacco.
Left rear pocket: loose change and beaners/receipts.

Keeps everything organize and minimize on damages. I like my stuff to last.

Carry them in my right front pocket most of the time...
Unless I had to much liquor to drink, Then I carry them in my hand...lol ;)

I carry mine in RFP with house keys, Fisher space pen(Bullet model)and lighter(Bic). My Tribal Spear has some fine scratches, but I think it will survive.:D

Right front pocket, nothing else in there. I do carry it in a Sack-Up just to keep the knife vertical - I hate having a knife lay horizontally in my pants pocket.

I carry a small fixed blade in my right front pocket, sometimes it's clipped, sometimes not (if I'm working not). In that same pocket I'll have a slip joint or maybe one of the knives we don't speak of here.

Nothing but a knife or knives in the right front pocket.

I've used and still use a pocket pouch sometimes. I'm secure enough in my masculinity to use a knife purse when I want to! :D

I do find that I've never had a knife slip out of my pocket when it's in a pouch. If I had a Tony Bose knife for every naked knife that has snuck out of my pocket, I'd be a very happy man!

This is an awesome thread and great laughs. My daily carry is left front pocket Uncle Henry 885 with 4 inch Leatherman PST, 4 inch crescent, and house and truck keys. Right front pocket coins, work truck keys BUCK 301 DW and various job service parts, watch pocket Case Old Red Pocket Worn stockman.

S&W 642 in my right front pocket, everything else - including the Case stockman - in my left front pocket. Nothing in the back pockets or it goes through the wash.

Hmmmm maybe it's weird... but I usually take a needle and a thread, and saw up about an inch of the margin of a front right pocket, creating a little pouch for slipjoint, so: it can't rotate, it's separated from other stuff in the pocket I always know where it is.

I do the exact same thing it works nice! I also bought one of those sheath pouch w/clip from the web ~$4 but it is missing a bottom piece to it ,so after a while the knife falls through ,so I shaped a small piece of leather then glued and hand stitched it ,that works great too.I ordered a p-7 knife suspension clip from TEC accessories and it's great if your slippie has a ring like the SAK's

I see a lot of guys carrying in the front pocket and far fewer carrying in their back pocket. As an aside, has anyone ever lost a knife carrying it in their back pocket? It seems to me that it would be easier to lose a knife in your back pocket versus your front pocket, but hey, what do I know??? That's why I'm asking! :o

I believe in a balance between care and use.

There is no end of truth in the old saying "take care of your tools, and they will take care of you". On the opposite extreme, you do actually have to have the tool handy in order to use it.

When you throw your knife into a pocket full of keys and coins you not only cause needless deterioration through countless scratches and dings, but you expose it to dirt and bacteria.

When you carry your knife in a silk purse you not only look silly, but it interferes with use by slowing you down and making the entire operation needlessly cumbersome.

That is why I keep my traditional knives in my coin / watch pocket. I don't carry change or a pocket watch, so it is the ideal location to stow my knife for easy access. Since I never put anything else in that pocket, my knives not only stay pretty, but they stay CLEAN - important when you have to press your knife into service as a food prep or eating utensil. The knife also stays very handy as it is not only conveniently located, but I don't need to dig for it either.

Chris, that is why I stopped back pocket carry. I lost my favorite buck out of the back pocket of my jeans 4wheeling with a buddy.

I carry in my back pocket and have never lost a knife. I sew a vertical seam along the pocket edge like this:

I usually do it in a thread that matches so it is harder to see. These are just workshorts so I used the black thread that was already in the machine.
I carry my heavy LB7 this way and it is very comfortable.

I put it right in my pocket with my keys. And with my pens. And with my change. And I don't care. It all good.

I used to have my wife sew a short vertical stitch in my front right pocket towards the outside to keep it upright. It kept the knife in place pretty well. Its annoying having a knife laying horizontal in the front pocket. However, I am really digging my new knife "purse":D I just picked up from knivesshipfree and will likely stick with it for a while.

Knife purse all the way......I feed man cards to my pet wolverine just to constipate him and make him meaner.

I wear this around my neck at knife and gun shows just so you know who you are dealing with....]

I probably should have mentioned that, although I continue to carry knives in my watch pocket, I did actually lose a kershaw skyline that way.
The skyline was larger than most of the traditionals that I carry, but the pocket clip was longer so it still grabbed the edge of the watch pocket.
The clip got bent. I didn't have the right torx driver to fix it, and before I got around to getting one, my knife disappeared.
Carrying a smaller slipjoint is more secure as there is less knife sticking out of the pocket, but it has fallen to the floor a couple of times when I have taken my pants down while using the bathroom.
Probably more information than anyone wanted to read :D

Stelth, I like your sewn back pocket idea a lot, and I think I'm going to try it.
