Specifically looking for non-loose-in-pocket options. I'm coming from modern pocket "clipped" knives. I don't want a knife flopping around in my pocket. Maybe a belt pouch or back pocket sheath. Pics preferred.

Smaller knives flop in le pocket or in a slip. Here are my larger knife options:)

A modified 'S' clip works nicely if the knife has a lanyard hole, bail etc. The clip sits on the top of the pocket on your strides keeping the knife upright.

I found this option works well for all other larger knives. The cord attaches to a belt loop

Or just put it in your pocket like a grown-up ;)

Edit - I'm just chiding you, whatever you're most comfortable with. I have a pocket sheath that I had made, what are the dimensions of the knife you want to carry?

KSF pocket slip. Slides in and out of a pocket easily, and it's so trim I don't even notice it.

Depending on the size of the knife it will either go in the watch pocket on my jeans or slipped in my pocket. Larger knives get slipped loose into my pocket, this works better with knives that have a lanyard. I find the lanyard holds them vertical. I also have a knife slip that I made to model the KSF pocket sheaths or the ones Redbeardo makes which I like okay.

Not to hijack but has anyone tried the Case horizontal sheath? I think they call it the "side draw sheath" I'm thinking about picking one up for my sod busters/bull nose.

I carry mine vertically in my back pocket next to my wallet. This applies to any of my non SAK knives.

My Alox-scaled Victorinox Cadet in my right front pocket, loose in the bottom. It may have to share the space with loose pocket change.

If I happen to be wearing jeans, which is rare, the Cadet goes in the watch pocket instead of loose in the main pocket.

At work, I carry a stainless folder in my left pocket.
After work, I carry small folders in my watch pocket and larger folders in my right pocket.
This is the method I like the most for my best knives. The sheaths were made by Al Dodge.

I have a little pocket slip that I like. If I don't have that, I just throw the knife in my jacket pocket. Really small knives like the Schrade 33OT can sometimes be carried in the pocket alone without annoying me. Anything bigger that that, really, gets turned on it's side. Kind of annoying when you have to fix your knife every two minutes!
